I recently swapped from Core6k to VN1250 after hearing about how much better it was. I did core for a few weeks but now that im doing VN1250 im actually starting to pick up on words in a lot of sentences from casual japanese speakers. other than teaching you numbers at the start, why does core suck so bad?

What's the recommended method nowadays? When I tried to learn in the past the thing I had the most difficulty with was just learning the words. I couldn't tell the kanji apart very well so similar ones (especially compounds) weren't distinguishable.

if u have a switch, yokai watch 1 is a good choice and its on sale for 1000円 on the eshop.

if ur emulating try a dragon quest out, you're gonna need to power through actually tryin to figure out kanji through radicals/whatever method you use but it's pretty beginner friendly.

its like solving problems in math.
if you practice with lots of easy, low-hanging fruit stuff, its easier to get a grasp of basic structures or patterns or idiomatic phrases or we so the day you come across a much more difficut opponent to confront, you can use whatever knowledge you previously had to dissect it into more familiar structures or problems or whatever.
also, repetition helps with being able to recognize and find the answer to stuff faster.
