don't feel bad if you cry while watching shounen. they have themes revolving around life or death, sacrifice, dreams, etc. spanning dozens of episodes that hold a lot more weight than anything that could ever happen in a show revolving around little girls talking about and doing pointless stupid shit, which low IQ shounen haters love to watch. which they never admit because they realize how hypocritical they are for dumping on shounen.

marrying to get into japan is an even arguably worse choice than being an english teacher
spouse visa is more restrictive (can only work as part timer), you risk getting fucked by your marriage going to shit (and chances are you never had a meaningful relationship before so your marriage WILL go to shit), you will have to depend on your wife for pretty much everything, and the kind of person that would marry you, a useless gaijin, after a long distance relationship out of the blue is probably not the kind of person you want to be depending on/marry in the first place

are you the guy that lives in tokyo? i feel like you are exaggerating the severity of the whole thing and if you're basing it on tokyo that would explain it. if you dont go out and spend a ton of money on food and alcohol all the time it's really not that hard imo. i like cooking so i had people over at my place a lot instead and they'd bring booze so it was a win win.

i have a friend who's on interac at a junior high who teaches 3 classes at most and reads manga at his desk the other 3 class periods. he sends me pictures of him hanging out with the junior high kids at their sports days and culture festivals and they all look pretty happy to be around him. how's that for thankless slave work. you're talking out of your ass

>> No.22767528

>>22767449
So for example I was telling myself the conscious story "Oh America sucks, Japan is super awesome, Japanese people are great. I just wanna know Japanese so I can be a part of their amazing culture. I don't even wanna be Japanese. I just want to be able to appreciate their culture and consume this media I like and I just love the language because it's beautiful and I'm just learning it because of that."
And I had this whole narrative that was complete bullshit. I mean maybe there was some truth to that but that wasn't why I was doing it at all. I was doing it because I felt I didn't fit into my own culture and that hurt and I wanted to feel like I was enough and that I fit in. I think that probably - to some extent - anyone who is in their late teens or early 20s and wants to dedicate their life to mastering a second language, they probably have a little bit of that going on. They probably have a little bit unconscious delusion and they're using Japanese as a way to further their egoic agenda. But they're probably not aware of that. Because if you're aware of that you wouldn't do it because it'd obviously be silly and it'd be clear it wouldn't get you anywhere. Now I think that's fine on a certain level. Like for me that was what I had to do at the time. I was at the level of consciousness and development that I was at. I wasn't ready for any more clarity than that, and so that is what I did. And later on I realized what was going on and I realized I learned a big lesson through learning Japanese.

I learned how mastering skills isn't gonna make me feel any more complete than buying more physical objects. A lot of people in the world seek to become more complete, to become more, by acquiring more physical objects like a bigger house or car, or maybe even an attractive mate. And from my PoV even since I was a child it was clear that that was obviously not gonna lead to happiness, and that getting more physical stuff isn't actually gonna be doing anything for me. So I could totally understand why there were really rich, wealthy people who were depressed because they were still the same person even if they were surrounded by stuff, that stuff isn't part of them. But what I didn't see was that gaining more skills is actually fundamentally the same thing. I am not my Japanese my ability. Just because I can do Japanese that doesn't mean that I'm any more as a person. Just like how having a nice car doesn't make me any more as a person. And that is something that I couldn't see at the time. But fundamentally the structure was the same. And so this is something I learned through learning Japanese and this insight is very valuable.

most people in the world live like this, not just janitors or factory workers. idk, i was raised frugal even though we had money so it's just normal to me to budget and not overspend. if you equate comfortable to not having to think about daily spending at all then i guess it isn't comfortable but i dont see it like that.

and besides that, only retards that want to live in shinjuku, shibuya, or roppongi think rent in tokyo is expensive, there's plenty of neighborhoods (especially in the north/north-east, towards saitama or chiba even) that are much cheaper, very lively, well-connected to the city center and don't cost that much to live in
>the friend i talked about is paying 40,000 yen a month for his apartment
and you can get similar apartments in tokyo as well, i know plenty of people paying 6万 for a decent (albeit older) マンション without problems
>bullshit
not bullshit, but cool rebuttal bro
>yeah in TOKYO
everywhere in japan, there's real estate agent fee (1-2months of rent), 礼金 (key money, 1-2 months of rent), deposit (1-2 months of rent you supposedly get back maybe), cleaning fee, mandatory fire insurance fee. some places have it more than others, and stuff like 礼金 can be very dependant on the region (east vs west japan), but all of these fees usually depend on the price you pay for rent, so it doesn't matter if you're in bumfuck 田舎 or tokyo, you will still have to pay them (albeit less)
