You guys think it's possible to use different CSS in Anki depending on which device you use? I'd like to review my anime cards when I'm out and about but I don't want any anime images to show up in case someone looks over my shoulder. So far I went into styling and simply got rid of the image field when reviewing outside but it is a bit of a pain. Maybe it's possible to just automate it with some kind of CSS device detection.

How dumb is it to learn Japanese because you grew up watching anime and never grew out of it. I'm taking japanese in community college right now and it seems like everyone there is a weeb. I can only see maybe one or two of these people graduating and going on to actually understanding the language.

I've decided I'm going all the way to N1. but how superficial is it to learn this language almost entirely because of anime and games? There are japanese people at my school and I get all weird and stop being able to breathe because I'm anxious to butcher my first IRL japanese conversation outside of my super forgiving teacher.

Is being a weeb the wrong reason to learn Japanese? Do japanese people hate this? Are yakuza going to beat me up because I'm a fucking faggot?

that's wrong and the people who say that don't know japanese
also the way i see it there are two big reasons to learn japanese

the idea that you gotta learn a language for the sake of speaking it with other people always felt kind of odd, since there have been lots of people who've learned languages like classical latin, sanskrit, german, and persian who intend to only read literature in those languages, who've probably never been nor would they even care to go to the countries where those languages were/are spoken.

even if it's a living language, learning it doesn't have to be anything more than a recreational vanity project. after all, there is such thing as passive absorption and one-sided communication.
