Majsoul is easier to start up and play for beginners

I'd rather a beginner take a minute to register an email account to make a Majsoul account and play some bronze rounds then someone read a tenhou register guide and become too lazy to make an acount in another language.

Logging into Tenhou with your ID number and spamming pon and chi with the female voice whenever you can is a way better first mahjong experience

Tenhou is not a good starting point, it's for when you already have developed and interest and have some knowledge of the game to actually enjoy it. Starting up gamedesign.jp without any registering and spamming pon and chi whenever you can against CPU on speed 5 is a way better first mahjong experience

This disappointed me so much when I saw it, I was extremely hype for a 2hu mahjong on switch, but the 3d tiles sharp enough to injure myself on, and the riichi stick is just a cylinder tool. Hopefully they bevel the edges a little before it's actually released. The hand display is pretty bad too, they're the same stock images that https://euophrys.itch.io/mahjong-efficiency-trainer uses, and the box around it looks like a stock rpgmaker menu. It wouldn't take a lot to make it look less ugly at all.

Any tips on when to risk yourself to get a winning hand? I won here but I sure played ballsy. Had I got 8 dora or a fully concealed hand, I would've gotten a kazoe yakuman.

I've been watching the Mondo tournaments on youtube for the last few days. Are there any other major mahjong tournaments that have good commentary? I wish it was easier to hear the players calling out ron/pon/chi. There's something super satisfying hearing someone belt out a ron before showing their hand.

You might struggle at first but once you get hang of playing and improving is more like developing an instinct for the right moves and not memorizing. If you go for a client like mahjong soul the game helps you quite a bit with highlighting discards on mouseover and showing your waits, and how many are still potentially in the game. Starting out with focus on simple yakus like riichi, tanyao and fanpai gets you going fast.

It's 3 and a half hour long video, but I highly suggest watching the entire video. It goes over the things that do/don't happen in Japanese Mahjong, and things a player can/cannot do. It also cover topics like how to score a hand, how much it's worth and how to get them.
