don't worry about the number just put the max amount of reviews to 9999 (you can do this by going into options)
if you do want to control the amount of cards you see per day then limit the amount of new cards you get per day (also in options)
if just start with 10 new cards per day and see how it goes, if it is too much for you then stop adding new cards for a while then do 5 new cards per day

I tried doing recognition only but I still had issues remembering the card. It's hard to explain but I would only kind of remember it when it came to more difficult kanji. With my kanji deck I usually see the recognition deck then the next day see the recall card which I will write the kanji from memory. I feel that having to write it from memory helps me learn the card better than recognition alone and because I'm forced to recall the kanji exactly it helps to differentiate similar kanji and has the added benefit of staying in my memory longer. The only drawback I feel is the higher learning load however I believe my kanji learning improved a fair bit when I did both
However this is just what works for me and I guess everyone is different but I feel that recognition alone made me more susceptible to forget them

learn radicals. every piece that makes up any kanji. there are around 300. there is a deck with them in the resources.
learn most common 2k words from a premade deck.
write out each of those words once each, using the radicals you have memorized.

that’s all you ever need to do for kanji. the rest will settle itself as you learn more words and read more.

Yeah, i feel that I find that easier kanji that is frequently used if fine for recognition but I feel that more complicated kanji and rarer kanji benifits my long term memory much more when I recall cards, even when I break it up into radicals (through recognition alone).
