Why do people even think it's a simulation?

I think that aliens are going to come once the human population becomes big enough and put them into VR. I don't think the aliens are coming to "harvest" humans are really have bad intentions. The 3 kings are trying to cull the population so that this does not happen.
I also think that there's some kind of cyclical thing going on; the 3 kings make reference to some earlier 3 kings, so maybe this has been a recurring thing going back for ages. I think the stuff Vier and co are researching are artifacts of earlier civilization. Could be ancient aliens shit too, but that's not as cool.

Obviously there's something going on here, but I'm banking on it being the "spiritium is people" thing.
>people being essentially living computers & Miyao is a program
I don't see how this is related to it all being a simulation.

Regardless, I really hope it's not a simulation, I think that's kind of trite by now. Clearly the idea of a simulation is going to play a role but I hpoe it's not in this way.

Please hear my theory as to what's going to happen in Episode 2:
The 3 kings will succeed in their plan and "reset" society. This will literally mean that society will be back at the point it was 100 years ago and will develop in the same way again; that's what our "time cycle" is going to be. The events immediately following the ending of episode 1, i.e. WW4, will be re-branded WW3; that's why all information on it is strictly banned, so people don't find out about the cycles. The fact that the 3 kings reference some earlier 3 kings is also evidence of this.

Man, I totally forgot about this. The blue Miyao said that Miyao's murder program would be triggered when he saw a certain person and that Miyao would then do everything to kill that person. Then blue Miyao said that to prove it he'd trigger the program. Then the factory scene came, though I'm not one hundred percent convinced that that is what the smurf showed Miyao.

Does this all mean that Miyao's murder program was activated? What actions from that point on were a result of the murder program? Isn't this a strong hint that Miyao is a traitor of some kind? And who is the person that supposedly triggers the murder program?

He doesn't get a sprite nor dialogue box during them and never seems to recall afterwards, I think we are being misdirected and it isn't the actual Miyao talking, but third "Miyao" that's really just a program with no body nor avatar on Kizuna that believes he is Miyao. Completely unrelated and unnecessary, but I really like what we're doing right now, exchanging knowledge and theorizing about the little details as if we were on /x/ or /pol/. It's one thing I really missed from Higurashi and Umineko because they were already complete when I got to the end of Twilight in late 2014, so I'm glad to be finally able to share my thoughts and craziest ideas without carrying the risk of being spoiled. WTC is great wowowow!

One thing that got kinda stuck in my head while reading was how The Three Kings were at the very top of 79 Chivalric orders, if my memory isn't faulting me on the numbers. Do you believe that even seemingly innocent orders like the one linking Stan and Gunhild for example may be included in those? After all it's not as if we can see what happens in their Selcom or if they are confirmed CPPs or not.
Another thing regarding the identity of potential traitors working for the Jestress, which ones so far stood out as the most suspicious contenders for you? Rethabile is in my opinion the one with the most incriminating "evidence" against her, if you look at the circumstances surrounding her brother's death à la Umineko : the moment she's able to obtain information on his location, that's where he is supposedly killed. Unreliable narration is Ryukishi's favorite trick so I thought maybe

So given that Umineko had the whole message bottle thing, I wonder what the story we're reading ACTUALLY is. People have brought up the idea that it's a simulation, it could be that scientists are using this simulation to test something maybe. But that doesn't really explain what Miyao is. Unless the thing the scientists are testing is the "murder program", but then that doesn't really explain blue Miyao and why he wants to stop him, unless that's just part of the testing. Well a simple simulation doesn't explain the fact that normal Miyao seems to show no awareness of the meta stuff, but I can't really think of any explanation for that to be honest. Unless this murder program is just something that affects people subconsciously, so normal Miyao just isn't aware of this even though it is happening.

It's possible that meta Miyao is just watching a recording or something, like this all already happened (or is a prediction or simulation or something) and for some reason he's watching it but is somehow convinced he's actually taking part in it for some reason. Actually the idea of it being a prediction is interesting I think, maybe Miyao is some scientific thing designed to predict the future for some reason? But that doesn't really explain the murder program thing, unless he's just managed to predict that someone will hack into him and make him kill. Maybe blue Miyao is just Miyao's prediction algorithm or whatever. I mean the word "prophecy" is used a lot but maybe it's only a "prophecy" in this case because he's running the simulation, so by definition whatever he predicts is what happens here

Yeah she's one of the two prime suspects, though for me it's mostly because I think Stanisław is his faction's mole - and they get along just a little too well (I got suspicious when she was the one to tell him about the chivalric order - then again, he's Miyao's pick, and she also gossips about it to Chloe first, who's the first one to suggest going to other factions)

Also I think the murder program is an alternate personality that emerges due to certain factors, such as seeing the face of the person he has to kill, and it hides memories from Miyao/Meow. Thats why Miyao seemed to remember his encounters with Dark Miyao in general, but when he is shown the face that will trigger the killing program it just cuts to the meat factory scene with Miyao seemingly not remembering anything (or at least never mentioning it, not even when he talks to Dark Miyao again).

Well giving it some more thought, I'd like to see him use a metaphor that relates more to the sprouts of war. But "don't be a warmonger" really isn't the intended message. The walls of peace are maintained by actively building your military strength to prevent the chance of war. I think it kind of worked, but it definitely could have been done better without spamming the same lines over and over.

Naima = 10 cores, 1~5 threads per core

He also has a weird mention of how the guards in a concentration camp will never be forgiven for merely following orders. Considering that he is Polish, this adds a lot of dimension to it. And I suspect that he knows full well that bringing the end of the world is bad but he will do it anyway.

Koshka says at the end that the problem with the world is that people lack love. >>22259507
Rin is autistic but not nihilistic. Her problems was too much love for her act became self-destructive. What she lacked was a self-identity beyond creating art. Art is the integration of materials within reality to convey values, it is done with selective transformation according to the artist's soul in how they see reality. Each time you create art, you destroy a part of your soul that contains the subconscious integrated values as to selective transform it and convey it to others. Rin was on a pursuit of endless self-destruction from this process which is different from nihilism which is also self-destructive but comes from a hatred of reality and of the self. Rin did not hate herself, she hated that she could only express herself through her art.

But anyway, autistic people are incapable of nihilism because they tend to have a simplistic view of the world (depending on their level of autism, obviously) and are deeply attached to certain objects or subjects. This is why a lot of autistic people are very focused on a very limited amount of subjects and ignore a lot of other things. It's a cognitive form of limitation which isn't bad but that sort of thing actually allows autistic people to not fall to the dumb philosophical trappings of nihilism that originates from a intrinsic view on value rather than an objective one or a self-loathing of the self, something most autistic people are incapable of doing unless they hate the limiting aspect of being autistic. The higher you are on the autistic spectrum, the less you are to be nihilistic.

We don't. We also don't know whether anyone else actually got that message nor can we confirm that Stan actually got that message. Since it's VR, you can't check. It's also interesting because, when he fights with Lingji, he emphasizes that he wants her to stop fighting. Why would he tell others to forgot about the Order of the Public Bath if he wants others to maintain its spirit, even when he's putting his life on the line to make Lingji accept it?

Rin is autistic but not nihilistic. Her problems were too much passion for her art became self-destructive. What she lacked was a self-identity beyond creating art. Art is the integration of materials within reality to convey values; it is done with selective transformation according to the artist's soul in how they see reality. Each time you create art, you destroy a part of your soul that contains the subconscious integrated values as to selective transform it and convey it to others. Rin was on a pursuit of endless self-destruction through artistic expression. This creative process is different from nihilism, which is also self-destructive but comes from a hatred of reality and of the self. Rin did not hate herself; she hated that she could only express herself through her art.

Anyway, autistic people are incapable of nihilism. They tend to have a simplistic view of the world (depending on their level of autism, obviously) and are deeply attached to certain objects or subjects. This detachment is why a lot of autistic people are very focused on a minimal amount of subjects and ignore a lot of other things. Autism is generally a cognitive form of limitation. It isn't bad but it prevents autistic people from falling into philosophical trappings of nihilism that originates from a intrinsic view on value rather than an objective one or a self-loathing of the self; something most autistic people are incapable of doing unless they hate the limiting aspect of being autistic. The higher you are on the autistic spectrum, the less you are to be nihilistic.

Ryukishi also understands this and it's the reason Mariana doesn't seem to care for friends or others beyond playing a game and wanting to pet Gannet because she's cute.

Rereading Higurashi for the first time in probably a decade.
Before I started this reread I honestly forgot just how good it really was. I was almost scared I wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much anymore and ruin my fond memories.

I'm up to Tsumihoroboshi right now and the scenes from Rena's PoV have me on the verge of tears.
I don't really remember much of the story details themselves, it's been forever after all, but what I do still remember is that when I first read this part forever ago I was struggling quite a lot IRL and going through pretty severe depression. Rena's story was probably one of the bigger things that finally caused me to go get help back then. It made a pretty lasting impact on my life.

I'm really happy I can still enjoy this series so much, no matter how jaded I've become over the years

In general, there are four requirements to be nihilistic
:
-a hatred of the metaphysics of reality (basically that reality is limited because A is A, etc)
-a hatred of the self through self-loathing (the internalized view you are incapable of doing anything, thereby you hate yourself for not being capable of accomplishing anything)
-a resentful hatred of others and values beyond mere envy for the previous two (others can accomplish something, and I hate that they can achieve excellence and that I can't)
-an inability or rejection to find any sense of joy in life (small pleasures such as drinking coffee, eating good food, seeking short term joy is bad)

You can still hate reality and yourself but still value something in life. So long as you some anything or something, you can anchor yourself and not fall into nihilism. Most people that become nihilistic are that way because they think values are impossible because nothing is intrinsic (an apple isn't valuable on its own, therefore it has no value, ignoring that you can only have objective value in relation to yourself with objective life-affirming values and requirements) while autistic people generally attach themselves to something they see as interesting or valuable. An autistic person that loves his dumb train toys or whatever can't become nihilistic, even if he hates reality or the fact that he's autistic because he still loves something. You only start resenting everything and become nihilistic when you truly lack love in every form. Even autistic people have at least one favorite food that they'll willingly eat and not give a damn about anything else.
I find it paradoxical that autism is a cognitive limitation that ends up embracing the metaphysical limitations of reality by proxy and lacking any self-awareness to actively hate others. The only possible conclusion is that autistic people are incapable of being nihilistic. I don't even think it's possible for any autistic person to not have a few small number of things things they focus all their mental energy on.

Yeah, he really pushed the cultural relativism in many scenes. Which isn't surprising because he's part of the an authoritarian religious group of states. Any country that doesn't promote free speech as an absolute is always totalitarian and cannot be trusted. It's very clear that a greater degree of individual freedom is always better, so fuck that 'nobody will argue whose method is better' because I'll argue it.
Although it might just be his cultural upbringing, it's still wrong. I want to go through the VN again and find anything that Stan might have said that was suspicious.

There's a ton of stuff we don't see. Some traitors probably moved on order, Linjgi got her golden gauntlet, hell, the Ninth Prime Orders could have taken the fight offscreen, as they were explicitly ordered to go into a warpath. We only see bits and glimpse of a narrative that should have spanned two or three chapters, of which the Lingji vs Miyao fight is only the very end.

Koshka is Pandora, Satan is imprisoned in the vault.

That doesn't quite match, on a mythological plane. Also Takano would have probably known if Koshka was from the vault, and said something, or actively helped her. If the thing from the vault had escaped, Takano would be all over it.

Also Seshat, in the epilogue, goes to the vault to release whatever is inside. If Koshka had already been released, she would:
1. Have known.
2. Not bothered.

There are no evidences that Koshka is from the vault, and a ton of circumstantial evidences that she isn't.

Are you sure that's what she was doing? This was the background at the time. I thought it would have been the 'bottom layer' background (where you could see the pit below) if that were the case.
As for the "object she held in her hand" that "poured a light like the rays of dawn", should I have taken that as being a key to the vault? That would probably make more sense than being the Mario-suicide device, which was the only gold-glowing thing that came to my mind. I couldn't fathom why she would be holding that.

There's strong circumstantial evidences for that. No "proofs". But if you reread Ciconia two or three times, it seems to be what is happening.

The background there is from the Ark. Seshat comes, with a key made of light (Book of Revelation), to release "something". The only "something" that could be released in the Ark installation is from the vault. She even says afterwards that it would be the only way to ensure the compliance of "those two", "those two" presumably being Takano and Toujirou.

It's an abstract kind of proof. Reread the VN several time, absorb what's happening.

She's the same as Hanyuu; she's an alien. The truth is that aliens like Hanyuu are only capable of appearing partially human. Her horns, for example, are as close as she can come to appearing human. I suspect that horns are a trait passed on from her alien form that lost all physical shape once they acquired the means of traveling through the meta. The same is true for Tamurahime in Higurashi Hou. She explains that the world is divided between territories and each have their own sphere of influence. In the entire Ryukishi-verse (which includes Higanbana), spiritual energy is accumulated in relation to how much human influence people have in you with an anchor. Hanyuu for example has Rika but her power comes form people worshiping her. Hanyuu was able to acquire more power due to the paranoia of the deaths. Beatrice got her power similarly with people trying to solve the mystery of deaths on the island. In Higanbana, a Youkai gains power in relation to the rumors being spread about them.

With Seshat, I suspect that her name is a clue: she is an alien deity of knowledge. Seshat was the ancient Egyptian goddess of wisdom, knowledge, and writing. She was seen as a scribe and record keeper, and her name means she is the scribe that invented inventing writing. In essence, she represents human knowledge in every context and form. Her power likely comes from everyone being tied to VR that can wikipedia anything they want. That's how she can interact directly in the VR but also outside of it. If you look at the Character Tips, one of her powers is Ghost--the ability to hide her existence from records--and if she is the one to keep the records of knowledge, it makes sense that she can alter it.

To yeah, my conclusion is that Seshat is an alien, similar to Hanyuu and Tamurahime. The enemy are also aliens that want to consume every human for their own benefit. The two players in this chess match is that of knowledge versus foreknowledge. If all of humanity dies, so does its knowledge.

Final piece of information, deities are not meta-beings but can use partial elements of the meta. This is because they are nonetheless still physical beings unless witches that were born purely from the meta. Hanyuu was the guardian deity and sacrificed herself and became stuck as an abstract in the physical world. Bernkastel is the collected memories from Rika given a name by Rika in Rei and then removed her shackles to roam the meta. Hanyuu explained to Rika that she traveled using a ship that can go through the meta and cover fast distances. Arguably, the highest degree of civilization is the ability to use the meta for personal gain but still being bound to it. I also suspect that 'spiritium' is related to some extraction from the meta in some form.

Yes and no. She's partially Featherine but also not. Hanyuu is the incarnation of Featherine's headset piece that was broken. This is why Hanyuu's horn was broken, and Lambda mentions that her headset was broken at one point. What happened is that this broken piece of the headset took over for Featherine as she went to sleep to recover the damage. The issue is that Hanyuu took a passive stance reflective of Featherine not giving any orders, so Rika was forced to solve the mystery on her own without anyone to help her.
You also have to remember that every 'piece' in the gameboard also has a causal relationship with reality; they never appear out of nowhere, even if it seems like they do. Everything has to be set up with certainty. Erika is a good example, as she exist merely to be a game piece detective but also has an extensive backstory with a romantic element, etc.

Nonetheless, Hanyuu is still an alien within the causal context of the world, regardless of the reason for her inclusion for the gameboard.

VR simulation is kind of a boring "solution", at least on paper. Though I got interested when I thought of it as layers as you said, instead of loops.
Original Miyao in the original world got meat factoried and put in VR. That VR replayed the world, and he ends up in the same ending and gets put into a deeper layer of VR. It keeps happening over and over until he's many millions of layers deep. Not that that's really right.

>The two players in this chess match is that of knowledge versus foreknowledge. If all of humanity dies, so does its knowledge.

I like where you're going with this.

There's definitely an aspect of foreknowledge with at least one of the player's sides: BlueMiyao having prophecies of what Miyao's existence will result in, and the foreknowledge of what's going to happen with the 4D space pillar crashing down into the ocean making all other conflicts up until that point meaningless.

Toujirou definitely seems to be on the side of wanting to protect knowledge. He's keeping tabs on all the most powerful people in the world and every secret order... And yet Miyao is an unknown factor even to him. (Perhaps Miyao is the piece of Toujirou's ex-wife, the "foreknowledge" player?)

Foreknowledge makes absolute sense in the context of 'prophecy'. What is a prophecy but a declaration of foreknowledge from a being that can predict future events and declare them? Alt-Miyao puts a lot of focus on foreknowledge like declaring X person will die and even threatens Miyao that getting rid of him will make him lose any forewarning he might get.

In another scene, Tomitake shows his 'cards' with a LATO politician. What are cards but knowledge that act as foreknowledge? Later, the narration even says that humans experience joy from knowing something before everyone else does. Having foreknowledge and seeing how people react gives intense joy because we feel omnipotent and omnipresent over others.

I'm rather certain that the opponent this time around is named the Witch of Foreknowledge or the Witch of Fate. There's even a scene with the Warcat trio that talk about whether fate is something given to you and what you do with it. See image >>22260777 for what I mean. Having foreknowledge of your future abilities gives you a sense of comfort but humans are volitional beings; rational animals that are condemned to make choices. Miyao might have been born to be a Gauntlet Knight, but he wanted to make cat videos. The end conclusion is that fate is something you create for yourself based on the talent and luck you were born which is likely going to be the central theme of Ciconia.

I would also like to add that there's an interesting difference between foreknowledge and certainty. While Lambda always preaches about certainty, she always emphasizes it with a degree of self-fulfilling prophecy: work hard and you'll eventually get it. Rika even emphasizes that destiny is bestowed upon those with a strong will which is just an endless drive with insane focus on achieving your goal. Foreknowledge is knowing the outcome with a degree of allocated margin. This is reflected in the last fragment that says that only 80% of the Revelations will occur. The 20% is weirdly unaccounted and I suspect it's the given volitional choice of freedom humans have. In such a scenario, all you can do is maximize the 20% to be the result you want. For example, if you have a 2/3 of certainty and your prophecy is '30% of humans will burn alive, Miyao will eat chicken, humanity be extinct', you'll want the allocated 1/3 beyond the prophecy to be wrong about humanity being extinct but the 2/3 requirements must be done no matter what.

The AOU is dominated by PC culture, so it's probably normal for Toujirou to consider his daughter a son if that's what he feels like.

He probably thinks his daughter has gender dysphoria or some shit and had her name changed for a male one when they were young. But he still wants to fuck him anyway because he looks exactly like Jestress/young Vier. He has no fucking idea that Meow even exists or that his "son" is a DID personality, because he didn't ask to talk to her during their meeting or give a shit about her. He doesn't know she's a thing.

I guess Miyao was very dominant when they were young or maybe they were still trying to understand themselves and didn't have much contact with each other. That's how Miyao came to be perceived as the "main" personality and built his life around it, before meeting Meow in the internal world as a young kid and developing a relationship with her.

Vier says that compared to the wisdom of God she doesn't care about family or children.

Miyao/Meow could be the child she left behind, or maybe a clone of her created by Toujirou so he could have a young version of his wife again.

Jestress is either Vier using a super old avatar of her younger self or an older sister of Miyao and Meow who looks even more like her mom. But Toujirou's comments when she takes off the visor imply that it's really his wife.

They were born with spiritium filtering bains and don't need parallel processign training because they don't really need to fly or multitask. All they need the gauntlets for is summoning some shit and killing people with it.

Is she confirmed to have a hairy pussy? I mean, don't muslims stone women over there for being sluts? If they shaved, their husband would assume they actually enjoy sex / are sluts / are cheating on them.

So it must be customary to have a hairy pussy even for teenagers like her.

However you don't have to do it alone! All us are comrades supporting the walls of peace! We won't let the middle aged men have their way. They don't understand the weight of the walls like we do.

>ミヤオ
That would be "Miyao", not even "Myao". It's literally the same sound.

It works in Japanese because there are no voices and you can tell who is it as soon as you notice it's changed from kanji or katakana.

The name change is not that noticeable in English because both names use the same roman characters, so a speedereader retard might get confused and not realize who is actually speaking immediately, but it's still better than naming them the same way.
