Although I don't have separate numbers for ancient and some modern threads, it's fairly organized, with some sub-folders when there is some common theme* and individual folders for artists I can single out.

*On pic related I have some pictures inside a folder called "Suika" saved on November/December 2015, it's a bunch of Suikas drawn in exchange for another anon's drawings of other Touhous, so I named them after which Touhou they correspond to.

I don't hang out the jay much these days, just lurk the OC threads.

The face is extremely unattractive, mainly because of the jawline. If you make it rounder, it would look better. Centering the eyes on the viewer would also help the appeal.

>>22285584 the iris arent focused at the viewer but the biggest problem is that you drew the irises too high in the eye, it should be the in middle part of the iris that should be seen no the upper part, because when you are looking something in front of you at the same level of your gaze your iris will be in the middle of your eyes even if your eyelids are closing assuming the eyes are closing a bit in that pic. Now you could see the upper part of the iris in case like when a person or anything that has eyes is seeing something below him with the eyes a little bit closed but without bowing her head in that case you could see the upper part of the iris like yur pic but in this case is a front view and it looks really off, try it in the mirror and see it for yourself.

now just to make it clear about the eyebrows and the correct way of placing the irises you need to see the whole eye socket or the zise of the eye when is wide open, and it will be easier to do the eye expressions

in this pic at the middle in the top you can see the eye wide open with the iris in the middle vertically but not centred horizontally and more at the left side because when you focus at one point, your focus is in the middle of both eyes vision range and not in a stright line independently other wise you wouldnt have a sense of deepness or whatever, try placing somethin small like a coin in the middle of your vision range and close to your face once you think is really centered close one eye and you will see how off of the center is, thats because when you have both eyes open they are focusing on one point between them.

when you draw the iris like a perferct circle is easier to get lose but you just have to remember the overall size of the eye and that part in the side of the eye that is facing to the ear that has that shape ~ peeking, is a good land mark of where the middle of the eye is making it easier to do expressions since it doesnt change its position too much even when you shut your eyes or are fully open in the later they go a bit high

On a side note when you draw irises like perfect circles and small they tend to give that yandere or surprised look

on the top left is how the irises and pupils should be placed, im just using dots for the pupils and a circle for the irises so is easier to pinpoint their centre, a good way to see if the eyes are ar looking at you/viewer is flipping your canvas horizontally and the eyes should still be looking at you regardless


left bottom, since you placed the eye brows too high it gives the impression of a big skull since the eyebrows are around 2/3 of the skull but the eyes are usually in the middle so based on the eyes the top of her head the blue line is where it should be but based on the eyebrows it should be the pink line, see how one detail can ruin everything

If anything it seems to me that your skill is less developed than the other anon's and you fail to take exaggeration of features into account. (Distortion of realistic features to convey emotion or movement etc.)
The emotion in the originals is extreme, and most likely supposed to be. Your revision would dumb down those things and sacrifice impact in favor of realism, ironically making the the expression less "alive".
Additionally, I think you may be misreading the perspective.

Your motivations are cool and all, and for all I know you might still be very skilled - I can see that you have a solid grasp on stuff, but still fail to be aware of more advanced techniques.

Take my advice with a grain of salt because I basically never do lineart like this. You'll want to divide lines into as few strokes as you possibly can manage. I had to use two for the long line for the left part of the hair. When connecting you'll want to do the other line in a new layer so it doesn't mess up the line under it. Overshoot and erase. If you're naturally clean you won't have to clean up as much. And don't worry about getting the perfect line or following the sketch perfectly, actually I think it's better if you don't. Adding onto what the other anon said before. Assuming that you're using your wrist only, start using your elbow to make strokes. While your wrist might be good for smaller details, it's going to be difficult getting cleaner and longer strokes without using your entire arm. Good luck, it looks good so far

Her right (our left) eye is smaller than the other vertically. The horizontal dimension of course changes as we wrap around the head but the vertical dimension should almost always be consistent between both eyes. Note that this is still true even if one of the eyes is closed. Draw the orbit and wrap the lid around it.
The nose placement is also wrong. I know anime noses are just dots but it belongs further to our left because:
The face is treated here as a flat surface similar to a cheap fig. Pic related. You are plastering anime eye and nose stickers on a flat mask when the nose should project outwards (and thus to our left and "out" of the page) and the orbits should be sunken into the face (thus further right and "into" the page).

Same as above with the two overlapping but less extreme because this eyesocket is at less of an angle to the camera due to being on this side of the face.
Off center mouth, typically towards the "in" direction (in this case, right) is perfectly fine and common stylistically but you have to keep the top edge straight with the face to pull it off usually. It also helps if you skew it so the top edge aims back "out" or in this case left, definitely don't leave it symmetrical or else it just looks off. Remember we're at a 3/4 view so the mouth is 3/4 as well.
