Been thinking of trying to dye an obitsu body and head I have laying around. Worried about the inevitable fuckups, even though I do have spare parts to test on. Anyone here ever tried it? Pic unrelated.

I won this obitsu head a while back and I think she'd look great in a cocoa-y skintone, but the risk of winding up with an orange/grey doll is high so I've never gone for it. At times like this I wish obitsu/dd/smd had more skintone options, because unfortunately with dyeing dolls they lighten tremendously over time.

I've seen some people paint them to great effect, too, but the joints always wear away the paint after a while. There is no good universal option right now, unfortunately.

For anyone who considers getting this set, be aware that the skirt only has two straps for the hook on the back of it, one of which is way too loose with the included belt to be good for anything, and one of which is way too tight for the included belt. So I was just trying to change my doll's pose and the strap broke.
Also when I picked it up at Doll Point it said on the packaging there that it was for S / M / L busts, but on the store page here it says SS / S / M instead. That definitely makes more sense because I can barely get the shirt closed on my M bust with the bra off, and with the bra on I couldn't do it at all. The button holes have also frayed.
The jacket struggles to stay on her shoulders like in the image and barely holds a shape at all, I just took it off because it looks so bad.
Pretty disappointed with it given the price, but maybe issues like this are standard for that price range?

And I just realised I explained this totally wrong. Not the belt, the hook on the back of the skirt. The belt just goes over top of it.

it's technically okay for any of them but i personally wouldn't recommend using it on anything larger than a DDP. It's meant for MDD and DDP, and the neck well is a bit small so it can end up sitting high on the neck of a DDS, DD, or DDDy, producing a slight girraffy look.

Anyone know where can I find tight and sexy bike-shorts like pic related compatible with DD or DDy dolls?

I looked all over Etsy, Ebay, and Volks but I found nothing. Ideally, I like those spats to be tight and stretchy, and stain proof. If anyone can give me pointers, this would greatly be appreciated.

You can get most of that from TTYA, seriously, 90 percent of that clothing set could be found on Etsy. Just search around.
If you're dead set on a custom job though, just message most of the people on there who sell their own clothes that you see good work from. A lot of them take commissions, though they don't advertise it, and even more of them will make a special version of something they normally make if you want it in certain colors. I don't know anybody who does full custom outfits just by themselves anymore though.

dolldelights.com can't make up it's mind between slutty and cutesy, but they're good quality items none the less.

Might count as a halter vest, but I don't know for sure, it's definitely not a waistcoat. That's probably going to be the hardest part to find "off the rack" in that exact style. It's also the easiest piece to sew yourself if you're just interested/inclined, it's just finishing edges and attaching three panels. But, I've seen vests around plenty in the past.

BTW, if you're not finding what you want searching for 'Smart doll" clothes; SD13 and DD(L) clothes should fit no problem on a M bust smart doll, but just make sure to check measurements before you buy.

The Smart Doll I plan to get will only have the small default bust. No cow tits here. So the compatibility for tops should not be an issue.

I found the socks, the jeans hot pants (easily modifiable) and the white tank top at nine9style for 50$US shipped! Even though I can only afford the doll in a few months, I got those 3 pieces right now because I don't trust things remaining in stock.

Now all I have to do is order the right boots (paint the sole, change the laces), and commission the hat, vest, and the handbag from an Etsy mom.

$300 isn't a lot for that size doll, and the ones in your picture are going to be closer to the 5-600 range. That said, there are going to be dolls available to you, but they won't come with clothes, wigs, face-ups or eyes and they're not going to be vinyl, they're going to be resin. Keep an eye on sites like Alice Collections (Acbjd.com) they have sales on dolls all the time, and can easily come down into that range from some makers. Face-ups are usually one of the hardest things to get done, but if you're artistic at all it can be quite fun once you get the hang of it. But most of the ones that are going to be sold have the option to include a pre-done face up for an additional 50 bucks or so.
If you do want a vinyl doll, there's always the second hand market. Finding a complete doll on the second hand market is going to be pricey, as most of the ones that show up are licensed characters. Those still go for thousands of dollars. But you can find gently used bodies for around $200, and heads with predone faces for around $100-200 on sites like mandarake.co.jp they ship internationally directly so you don't need a forwarding service.

One of his early missions for starting his own doll line that Danny wanted to do with "SmartDoll" was to make them semi-robotic and a smart device. That's why a lot of early accessories for his dolls were based around USB connectivity and the like. He's slowly back peddled on most of his original intent with the dolls, but he still posts about how he's going to robotics fairs and the like every now and then on social media and still tags images of Mirai with the username mirairobotics.

I am noob ready to buy a DDP, but what accessories do I get? The guide just lists stores. I was throwing a bunch of random products in my cart since they're cheap, but I don't know how much I'll use them. I was gonna get a wood saddle (with extender) stand because the metal one looks ugly. I was going to buy a head off yahoo, but is it fine getting wigs/outfits/etc there as well or are there better options? The price will add up if I keep buying from different sellers.

Does anyone have example pictures of mismatched skin colors? I already bought a bust (normal), but pic related is semi white. Not sure if I should take the hit, or wait for a nice normal head. I'd rather have a head I love with a slight mismatch, then one I'm okay with that matches better. I probably wouldn't even notice the difference if I put on a scarf or something.

I don’t have a picture offhand but the difference in color is between the two is pretty noticeable. Wouldn’t recommend mixing them. I’d just get another bust if you like the head, some of the artists seem to heavily favor semi white and you might be waiting a long time for another one that looks similar in normal.

Hi everybody, brand new to dolls here, not even sure if you could say that. I'm looking to get my first in the next few months (pic related) and was hoping to get a wig for her off Leekeworld, but I dont know what size she would be? I see on the Volks site that there are clothes that fit DDS, which I'm pretty sure is Dollfie Dream Sister right? Where else do I find clothes in her size? The only place I've been shown is Leekeworld and I only see shoes in there for clothes
And for that matter, will DD shoes fit her or does she need her own size for those too?

DDS and DD3 are pretty much the same except for a small difference in height. I wouldn't sweat the clothing fitment. I'd pay more attention to the bust fitment.

DD and DDS clothes are 99% interchangeable, though don't get MDD (too small) or DDP (made for the S bust) clothes.

My favorite stores for clothing are Purple Dream, Dollheart and CheeryDoll. I also pick up the occasional outfit from YJA but you have to be there at the right time for those. Volks also makes some nice sets but I feel a lot of their DD stuff is kinda samey these days.

To find dolls, clothes, and a shit tons of nerdy things, go to Mandarake. It's a group of multiples shops and mishaps are very rare. Note that EVERYTHING is "package damaged" to filter out the annoying MISB autists:

The tank-top is stretchy enough for a larger bust size if need be. The socks are also perfect. The shorts are not Hilda's "hot pants" but they will be heavily modded so that they closely fit the style.
