Depends if you are a siscon or not. It's mostly a dumb nukige with long h scenes but I really enjoyed the small plots in between the h scenes.
Except the harem route. Literally nothing but dumb sex in harem route.

You fucking said it my man. There were times where I just got so bored that I shut the game off because I didn't want to skip the H scenes but didn't have the will to sit through it anymore that day. Reading about the same act described from different angles over and over again.
In one particular scene, mc cums 4 times before it's finally over and I wanted to peel my face off near the end.
This was my only eroge so far I hope not all of them are like this. I'll probably start skipping them If they are. This was my first eroge so I wanted to do it properly

The worst part is that they just repeat the same few lines over and over again, only slightly reworded, for no other reason than simply stretching the scene out as long as possible. There's also way too much time spent on dialogue and the MC's internal monologue and way too little spent on describing the actual physical act.

Another problem is when the lead into a scene itself takes so long that by the time the 本番 finally starts you're bored and have lost interest.

read more is always a good advice, but for a bare beginner, using stuff like anki decks to learn basic words' readings and spelling in kanji can help boost their confidence more than trying to read axanael and getting stuck trying to understand the appparently long and complex sentences which have only 2 or 3 known words at most.
that's why i think it's good for a beginner to read some easy manga with tons of furigana like よつばと！ or Cardcaptor Sakura instead of some apparently scary vns or lns.

Khatz does actually say not to learn grammar. It feels completely pointless to make a mining deck right when starting out. What was the reason again to not just take a premade one when all I do is wasting time picking up every new word I encounter which makes reading more about creating anki cards than actually reading.

anki is only useful if you are specifically studying for something like kanji kentei. I personally would recomend to not use anki at all until you are at least n2 naturally. In order to get n2 is easy even if you only read eroge or whatever. If you want n1 you would need to diversify your reading a little or use something like anki. but kanji kentei pretty much requires something like anki.

anki is really only useful if you see the word really infrequently. since you are beginner you can not tell which words are common or not. adding words like 興味　or 感謝 is pointless since you will see them a hundred times in a month. that is why i reccomend to get to about a n2 ish level before you even try anki since you would have literally wasted your time on all those uber common words. If you are studying for kanji kentei or refuse to diversify your reading anki might be useful for n1 but anything below is completely useless.

the problem with using a premade deck --or any deck-- as a beginner is that the "easy" common words will be difficult, and take you hours to grind, when you could just acquire them painlessly and naturally if you just read and listened to japanese and slowly built up connections. when I was a beginner, i tried the 2k and remember just struggling to remember the easy words and spending over an hour a day on just adding 20 new words, but after quiting anki and just consuming natural japanese I was able to remember those words, and they are like second nature at this point.

kanji do not really have meanings. they are a mixture of meaning ones, ones that are chinese words forced into japanese words which lose their meaning, and ones used purely for pronunciation. grinding meanings will not make you look up words any less, because you won't get the pronunciation, and it might stunt you as you guess wrong meanings of words and never verify. honestly I never used rtk and have no problem distinguishing kanji, and even developed my own "meaning" of kanji just through seeing them a lot. but I do read more than a lot of people here, as after 2 years, I have read 35 books and 24 mangas.

I started reading march 2018, before that i wasted time on bullshit like textbooks, etc. with 1 hour average reading a day that is 575 hours of reading. assuming 4 hours to read manga on average that is 94 hours, it took me about 9 hours to read a short novel or light novel and since 27 of the books fall into that category that is that is 243 hours, the longest thing I have read was subahibi which took about 60 hours, and everything else took like 15 hours on average which is 94+243+60+105 = 502. leaving room for me to be incorrect on how long it took me to read things, and maybe i did not actually read a whole hour everyday. I am just telling you objectively that i have read that much in that time. and some days I would read more than an hour and some days not at all.

yeah, but you gotta practice imitating japanese speakers extremely closely. it's often easier to spot mistakes in recordings of others talking than it is to notice them in your own speech, so you should probably record yourself saying one phrase over and over till you've finally done it right, like matto did.
matt's problem is that he's got assburgers and often speaks in a very flat way, which is why it sounds like he doesn't perceive pitch accent correctly, even though he does. he just doesn't try to strain his voice by varying his speech's cadence while speaking japanese.

Well, I finished Greed Island at last. I think just those 20 episodes took me longer to get through than the 70 episodes that came before just because they were so shit (the crappy early digital art didn't help matters).

Also, I don't know if Hisoka's VA just couldn't be bothered, but boy did his voice sound shit in these OVAs. Maybe this is why he got replaced.

Dunno what to watch now. Really don't feel like watching 2011 just yet because my perfectionism won't let me do anything but start from episode 1 and I don't want to watch 75 episodes just to catch up to where 1999 left off (especially when even a single one of those episodes is part of that awful GI arc).
