Here's basically the thing, finding fumos are a crapshoot. Outside of akiba hobby, there's really no guarantee. Try surugaya by the station and the 6 floor one by mandarake as well as shinjuku surugaya. Also try mandarake. Unless someone bought them, kbooks should have a v1 reimu, 1.5 yuyuko and 1.5 alice all for sale, however, for 6480 each, they also had a hatate for that price but I bought her. Lashinbang is a thrift store and they have a plush section, although I found nothing when I went a few days ago. Outside of those stores there really no where to find fumos, sadly.
Basically surugaya always has some it seems
Akiba hobby has the recent releases
Mandarake might have some
And kbooks can but you need to have some luck to get a fumo worth 6400
Other than that there's lots of fate plushies
But basically no fumos

Typically, Gift only releases 2 new Fumo variants per year, with this year being a slight deviation of that, with Remilia getting a new 1.5 variant. With the Fumos getting announced sometime before spring or winter Reitaisai. Otherwise, there can be a third release sometime in the year otherwise, but this is always just a re-release of pre-existing Fumos, as no new characters get announced. Also if you want a soft girl of your own, I would suggest going in on one that currently exists, because Clownpiece and Miko, while having higher chances than some, still don't have the best odds. As most believe that Kogasa, Momiji, Nazrin, Okuu, Orin, Maribel and Renko, will all get Fumos before other characters, however, they could be wrong.

Kind of, to both. Releases typically happen every reitaisai, with a potential release sometime in February otherwise.
This upcoming release will have Yuuka, Remilia 1.5, Kuorindou Sakuya, Flandre 1.5, and Tenshi 1.5, they will all be released for 3700 yen, with tax making it just shy of 4000. If you are outside of Japan you will need to utilize a proxy shipper/forwarding address service in order to get them.
That is not to say that that is the only means of getting an MSRP fumo! It just becomes demonstrably harder, as you basically have to watch and wait for listings to appear on Yahoo Auctions Japan that aren't ridiculously expensive. Furthermore, for some fumos you basically have to deal with the secondhand market, as they have not had reruns, nor does it seem like they will in the future, namely characters like Kaguya, Meiling, and Hatate.

Fumo are small, two can easily fit in a small box and small boxes are rarely checked by customs.

So don't worry two much about custom fees. In the worst case, even if you need to pay VAT it won't be much for a single MSRP fumo.

Also, a cool thing with ZenMarket is that there's an option to not put any logo on the box which makes it even less likely to be checked by customs.

Yuugi anon here, I would say yes, while I've never used thick felt before for hair (only for the horns of yuugi) I can say that it does work, as when I was in japan and talking with zerokonbu2 he told me and showed me how he used felt for his urumi and okina. From what I saw and heard and felt, it was perfectly fine for hair, even without a secondary backing layer. Hope this helps

do you use fabric scissors? i don't mean to offend but you seem to have trouble cutting straight lines. you can use a ruler and razor to cut fabric too.
i will say that the embroidery on the eyes turning them brown looks really nice, though.
