GENTLEMEN. I have finished the MIDI and rough sketch of the /jp/ Theme Eurobeat Remix.

There is a Readme inside the .zip file that this MegaUpload will deliver; anyone proposing to produce a more 'final' version (VERY necessary; my version is a bit rough and in need of more layers of audio, instruments... just made BETTER) should read the instructions.
Those downloading it for the mp3 will be a bit disappointed; seeing as my music equipment and ability to produce are limited (Dave Rodgers I am NOT... dammit ;~; ), the song will not sound all too good. Certainly not miserable, I hope, but definitely not something you'd see on iTunes in terms of quality.

Otherwise, I do believe I've done a satisfactory job of making, at the very least, the skeleton of the /jp/ theme's Eurobeat remix.
tl;dr: I DID IT. :3

Only those who are interested. Seeing as that's not a very large group and I'm done with my part of this business anyway, I'll stop.

This sounds pretty odd. Kind of bouncy in a way like a mushroom jiggling around a bumpy stone road while it's sunny.

It seems like you've done quite a bit of work on this, and I salute you for it. However, this is not to my tastes. I even found it kind of annoying at times, especially when it made that sound that comes on at the very end of the song.

I was afraid of that. That's also part of why I included the original MIDI with it— I know for a FACT someone could make a better song out of that MIDI than I did, and hopefully that will happen very soon.

>>2151079
I guess that's not appropriate here... to be quite honest, I only started visiting /jp/ about 5 days ago; 4chan itself, about 6 (but not without doing some studying up first). I still have a bit to learn.
I'll nix on the smilies.

/jp/ is one year old, so it's kind of strange that you're making a remix about our theme song when you've only been here for a few days. Normally I would say you're not worthy to represent us, but in your case I'll make an exception. You've only been here for a few days yet you've already produced some original content. That's more than some /jp/ers do their entire lifetime. Keep up the good work.

Hey there newfriend, I agree with >>2151162 and >>2151184, new users like you are the chemo. Only 6 days on 4chan and already you've produced more OC than most 4channers will in their entire careers. Don't let the trolls get you down.

But yeah, I like the melody, very Eurobeat, but the sounds are pretty weak. I can do Eurobeat synths and whatnot pretty well, so I'll use the midi to whip something up but I don't know if I'll have any time to work on it until next week since I work on the weekends. If anyone else wants to work on it that'd be great too.

Wow! Thank you very much for the kindness. I'd been shown /jp/ some time prior, and it struck me as a bit more interesting than /a/ for my money (this was a WAAAAY back... I did NOT need to be shown /b/...).
When I saw the theme song thing coming around, I figured it was a way to contribute, or at least try. Glad I could provide SOMETHING, at least with varied success.

that, and it's a little slow for eurobeat

>> No.2151351

>>2151339
Mm. That's because it's the exact same tempo as the original: 145 bpm. In contrast, Eurobeat is usually 155bpm to 165, even 170. 160-165 is sort of the current "sweet spot".

Dear Travis Stebbins (if that's even your real name): are your note velocities all 100 and 127?

And are you recording from your keyboard or something? It would explain why your part of the MP3 sounds like it's in mono sound. Maybe add some panning/Pan Pot to your MIDI instrument tracks?

Composition-wise it's cool, though. It just needs some effects, like compression and some DELAY on the sawtooth and orchestra hits!

>> No.2151358

>>2151141

Right. So I guess you found this place from the youtube video with /jp/ theme.

Fyi, /jp/ = type touhou. If you are here for music and creating original eurobeat, I am pretty sure you won't stay here for long. /jp/ theme was the only OC that some anon did in /jp/ 1 year of existence.

Where the hell did THAT name show up?? We collab'd on one song, perhaps I didn't nix the credit. Which file had that name?
Yeah, all the velocities are about 100 to 127... a master MIDIman I am not. I'm also recording from rack-mount synths that are all older than 8 years... through an external sound card, hardly the bleeding edge in technology.

>> No.2151535

>>2151424

Yeah, the credit was still in there.

And maybe try "buying" some VSTs? I'm not sure which ones would be good for Eurobeat, though. Maybe Omnisphere or Absynth?

Newcomer that is willing to learn from his mistakes and provide back with contribution? Yeah, the worst kind of poster we could get.

Granted, it's not good, but I'm sure he can learn the ropes with some months of lurking. And he's honest, I missed that. Now it's all "I'm not a newfag! U r the newfag, you fag!!"

>Newcomer that is willing to learn from his mistakes and provide back with contribution?

I'm not talking about that. I'm just saying that putting /jp/ material on a social networking site such as youtube or myspace is a bad idea. It attracts new comers. In the case of the new comer you are describing, we could use more people like that, but not all new comers are going to be as modest as said new comer.

/b/'s population multiplied in 2006-2008 because of the "Anonymous is a legion" rhetoric that spread through the Internet. I can give you several thousand examples of /b/'s rhetoric being discussed on stickam, blogtv, youtube, facebook, digg, and various other social networking sites. The ratio of good newcomers to bad new comers will always be 1 to 20.

Putting our original content on a website like youtube is no better than putting our stuff on encyclopedia dramatica. "Hey everybody look at me, my fellow /jp/ers have created this original content" "Aren't we cool?" I honestly don't know what one expects to gain from putting our original content on youtube. If that youtube video was private, I wouldn't have any problem with it. Alternatively, if it was only on nico I wouldn't mind.

And yes the rumors about encyclopedia dramatica attracting newcomers is true. Search for "encyclopedia dramatica" on youtube and witness 100,000 plus normalfags talking about our beloved 4chan. Attention driven raids are what killed /b/.

>And he's honest, I missed that.

You assume he's a a male. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a female. And as you know, females aren't compatible with males.

>> No.2151657,5 [INTERNAL]

I'm pretty neutral about the whole thing.

On one hand, we don't really need a remix of the /jp/ theme. We're a discussion board for otaku culture, not a music creation community. Making a remix doesn't by default make him a good poster because it doesn't really contribute anything relevant to the board. It may be "original content" but I think posting thought out and meaningful contributions to on topic threads is more important than just working on a song about the board.

On the other hand I don't see anything wrong with it. If he wants to make it he's more than welcome to. He's not hurting the board by doing it.
