Tell me about how you got into touhou

I'm a touhou newbie, getting continuously splattered agaisnt the floor on EoSC right now. But I've always been on the outside looking in and I'm a big fan of the songs and the fan videos. Also I kinda would leave my current partner for Reimu if she were real.

Long ago someone posted on some forum about 'the new touhou game'
And then I downloaded it and played it. And then I kept playing them
To git gud, just keep trying. Maybe turn up the difficulty and try that, normal mode will look really easy after a while on hard. So play on lunatic so hard will look easy

I got into this through memes at first, but I got hooked on the lore and some of the music and characters also. I've tried playing the games, and the best I have gotten is to stage 4 on TD, but I still enjoy the games for what they are, and what ZUN has crafted. Still wish I could do better at bullet hells since I love games like galaga

I played a few minutes of LLS before I even really knew what an STG was. When I started actually enjoying games, I decided to start with HrtP and go right through. Around PCB I started really enjoying them.

I've always known about Touhou, seeing and reading their doujins but never being too interested in it. I always wanted to get into it but I thought it was an anime. It wasn't until I met a guy who I met online that I would play games with alot, who was a big Touhou fan, would finally explain to me what it was. I liked hard games, so I got into it.

Roped in because of the music, I was looking at piano covers of vgm. Tried my hand at the games for awhile, best I ever did was almost normal cleared IN (yes I'm terrible). Eventually stopped playing the games, but I'm still here for the music.

Yeah Patchuppa is the casual filter in that game. Then you might get stuck at Sakuya for a bit too, but usually you might clear her with less practice.

few years ago I re-read the Yuno Picked Up a Strange Notebook One Day doujinshi that I just happen to remember in a whim and was in the mood for more crossover doujinshi because they were fun, saw that this Touhou thing had a few of them (Suwakoto for Yotsuba&, Yuyuko for Toriko, Liar Game etc etc) so I started reading them despise not knowing anything about it and then it was just downhill from there

I was on the b board and some guy posted cirno meme and a user posted go back to bant (I didn't know anything about touhou yet) so I went to bant and watch frog posters and cirno posters fight I fell in love with the little ice fairy. And that's how I got into touhou

I breezed through Hong and Sakuya, but had a ton of trouble with Patchouli. I 1CC'd the game the first time I made it past stage 4 without getting too mangled.

Yeah, but Meirin is hard for a 3rd stage boss. She always forced me to use at least 1 bomb for her two last spell cards.

Patcho forced me use it with her three last spell cards, but at least the bullets were fat enough so I weren't so tense when I played against her. Sakuya is tricky but manageable.

I still think Meiling is a wall that forces you to use a bomb.

Well my ex sent me a pic of remilia eating mcdonald's (she was an otaku neet, like seriously a real otaku instead of the faux e thot gamer girls) , and after the breakup I started going to /jp/ after /k/ kept posting touhou memes. Now 2 years later, I have almost everything memorized and i'm obsessed with jazz doujin circles.

The History Channel had a multiplayer online shooter game called "Shooutout" and IRC channel around 15 years ago. I met a neo nazi on one of the Shooutout servers and asked him about his custom CSS spray which was a woman wearing red and white and bearing a lot of swastika imagery. His response was that she was named Reimu from the Touhou project and sent me a bunch of links to the games, images, media, music etc.

I was checking up some pokeman games and played touhou puppet performance. I already knew about the characters from donarudo videos exposure and other type of music videos (wanted to know which character was the video showing and her story).

After beating TPDP I tried EoSD, because some anon told me here it was the best introduction as it's the first windows game.

while in the process of dropping out of high school i stumbled upon bad apple on youtube and listened to that 24/7.
Through the comments i eventually found out its a game and not an anime, so i got the PC-98 games and then for the first few months kept wondering why everybody keeps drawing reimu the wrong way...

I was an idolfag, came to /jp/ after getting kicked outta the previous board. The excessive, relentless and insufferable floods of Touhou whenever I browse the catalog somehow pierced through my 3D-filled heart and brain; reading some Touhou threads here and there, googling some names, watching some videos, etc.
Long story short, 3 years ago I deleted hundreds of GBs worth of idol and 3D shit and replaced them with everything Touhou.
