Unkeysounded BMS exists, it's like its own little world.
It's mostly garbage and unrated but it's there. The alternative is anime music (or mostly idolshit) that's just all chopped up pieces of the song as keysounds; there's no music if you stop playing. Basically none of it is fun to play and I guess stick to SM if that's what you're looking for in a game.

Are there any ways to improve on iidx in my house without a controller? Found this thing in the city (apparently the only damn machine in the whole country) and had some fun with. the most obvious one which you probably already figured out is "you don't have to go back to the center panel after each step", just leave your foot there, e.g. LRLRLR can be done by just rocking back and forth.
You should *try* to alternate your feet, but DDR's patterning is so strange that you will find yourself not doing this a lot.
