Sup /jp/.
Well, i have this lil shit in my head: i wanna learn japanese but it looks so bloody hard.
I have 2 questions:
Do you think I'll manage to learn it without a teacher?
If so, can you tell me about some software to do it?

>software
Considering you're not willing to even make the effort of learning it by using normal books then give up.

Japanese is actually a pretty terrible language.
It's like a centuries long trainwreck that has had the effect of creating a diminutive, perverted, inbred culture.
/jp/ - Tohou, FSN, Tsukihime, but we hate Japan

Or maybe that's just me.

1. No

Whoever tells you otherwise are worthless fuckers that say half complete sentences that won't ever say a logically coherent argument.

what he said.

but your best bet is to first learn both alphabets (Hiragana first) then go onto studying the "Genki" books or something.
Oh, and teachers never helped me much with anything.

Download nothing but Japanese shows. Only listen to Japanese songs. Read only Japanese books. Browse only Japanese sites. Seclude yourself from the English language. Don't even read the English label on your T-shirt.

Do this for about 1 year and you'll be pretty fluent in Japanese.

Good Luck.

Study Hiragana. Watch fansubs. Always keep in mind that Japanese alphabets are mostly syllabaries. Name an anime character in your head and search their name in Hiragana.

>> No.2132692

>>2132687

You just learned Hiragana yesterday and now you think you're a big shot, huh?

>> No.2132727

Hiragana is the first step. But it's still like, 1/5 of the, let's say, alphabet you'll be using

>> No.2132880

>>2132727
Actually it's abou 1/42nd of the alphabet you'll be using assuming you learn 2000 kanji. And bear in mind that 2000 kanji is the bare minimum for everyday competence, it takes a lot more than that to understand anything more advanced than a newspaper.

Nobody learns Japanese by watching anime. Very, very few people learn by studying on their own. Those that do tend to be functionally retarded though because they only learn oddball Japanese and nothing that is actually used in the real world.

If you really want to learn, take a class. If you're not going to take a class, don't waste your time and money on self-study bullshit.

>> No.2132919

>>2132880
What if, by any chance, one lives in a country that simply does not offer any sort of japanese classes?

>> No.2132932

>>2132880

Makes me wonder what you consider "studying on your own".
Of course, keeping your nose in a book and in a dictionary can only help you getting so far. What actually plays a huge role in honing your linguistic skills is interaction with a native, and this ranges from spending a year in Japan to arguing with guys on 2ch or one of those penpal sites, depending on the priorities.
