In the previous thread someone mentioned that the Dollho makers had gone bust and they're now dead, and indeed, everywhere I look they're no longer available. So what options are there now? Is there some other brand that stepped up to fill the gap? I tried looking, but I couldn't find anything in particular. yanata3 says he uses a certain onahole, but it's not actually made for dollfies so he must have modified it to fit with them, but it's also out of stock besides. Volks Dollfie Dream is the big name in the biz and the most popular. Their best shit is hard to get if you can't go to Japan or are uncomfortable giving them your credit card info weeks/months in advance for something you may not be selected to win in the first place.
Azone Internatinoal was their only commercial competitor. They source parts from plastic doll maker Obitsu and recently started designing their own body shapes.
Smartdoll is the new kid on the block and is the brainchild of famed superweeb Danny Choo and initially aimed to beat Volks at what they do.

If you like dolls, buy one you like and play with it. Take pictures and share, or not. Don't worry about taking shitty pictures or getting pointless criticism, this is not a photography group. Sorry if you were expecting something mystic, they're dolls.

To buy one:
Volks Japan www.volks.co.jp ships internationally. They also have a branch in the USA volksusa.com but their prices are so jacked you'll end up paying about the same if you ordered from Japan.
Azone international (azone-int.jp) ironically isn't set up to ship internationally. Buy via proxy or an exporting retailer like amiami or hobbysearch.
Smart Doll (smartdoll.jp) ships internationally

Speaking of Miku, is she the only one that ever get re-released? Because in a few hours, Volks USA will make her and the Sakura version available once again. I bet Canadian customs are sure to hit. Making the overall cost of that 658$US doll even more expensive than the 80K yen ones from Mandarake.

But the Miku getting re-released is the Reboot version with the new improved body while all the Mandarake ones are sure to be the old versions.

as long as you keep her in good condition they hold their value pretty well, just don't make her look like this >>21326250 (and don't buy a bootleg lmao) and you would be able to sell her fairly close to her original price. Keep the boxing and all the packaging as well, it significantly contributes to the selling price of the doll even if it's worthless on it's own, and makes it easier to ship. And above all, only get her if you're sure she's the doll you want; if you're new I'd suggest taking a look at all the other DDs as well and see if you like another one more. Good luck if you do get her--hopefully you won't want to sell her haha

the busts are the same, it's just the lighting. The difference is the internal frame (the skeleton of the doll), on which the f3 is a new frame with supposedly improved posing and flexibility. I don't have one to compare in person though, haha. The f3 is also supposed to be more adjustable, so you can more easily tighten/loosen parts of the frame if it's getting floppy or too hard/stiff. Ankles look a little different now too

They're limited quantity but they do produce 500-1000+ (conservative guess) of each doll depending on expected demand/preorder status/production capability. Have you guys ever been to these things? That's not the case at all. There's not an event ratio of anime to resin dolls, but you won't even be close to the only one there and I've found that a lot of resin collectors love DDs but just might not consider it a doll they'd actually collect themselves.

Where are you looking if you don't mind me asking? Additionally, Dollfie does fit Dollfie Dream (I think it's SD and SD13 that are most compatible). While we're on the topic of acronyms, DD is going to be a lot better than Dollfie Dream for finding clothing. A helpful tip I learned from collecting resin dolls is that you should find popular dolls with similar measurements to your doll to use as search terms. You might also try looking for Feeple 60 but keep in mind that there is about a 2cm difference between their waist sizes (Feeple 60 being the larger one here).

Etsy is where I stick to for new items. If you ever have questions on how the item you're looking at fits a DD, just ask the seller for measurements. I use Instagram for secondhand items (#bjdsale). I don't really use Instagram for specific items the way I would use Etsy but it's nice to just scroll through and see what's for sale. Sometimes you can find nice things for a good price because the seller is just trying to downsize/make enough money for rent before the end of the month. I'm also pretty active on Facebook and Instagram so if I see multiple people talking about a doll show, I'll look more into it. When you actually Google doll shows, it's kind of grandma doll shows only, so I wouldn't really bother with just searching for doll shows near you. PNW BJD Expo is one show I went to this year. It was very fun and happens yearly. I am also going to Doll Party in LA, which happens every other year. There are also some anime conventions that have doll programming blocks. I believe Anime North is one of those and that'll be at the end of the month. Off the top of my head, I know Resin Rose and Austin BJDC are also going to be later this year. I think those are both in August.

I agree completely since while I'm not interested in DDS and DD boys as shotas at all and the curves aren't much of an issue for me, MDD bodies' chub doesn't work well for making boys and being unable to sand those tiny breasts off doesn't help much either.
Having male DD base bodies is the absolute dream but its probably going to be quite a while before we see DDSB and DDB getting another shot at standardization, which could easily fail as it did before due to custom DD boys seeming to be more popular in the west and Korea/China than Japan. Though, I'm having hopes of seeing an official male MDD sometime soon because of the recent DDB character dolls at least.

If you want more detailed tutorials then it's the same thing as bjd faceup tutorials, which are more common in searches, you just won't be applying fake eyelashes or as much lipstick for anime style. You can use watercolor/acrylic paint, chalk pastels, or watercolor pencils. No markers, oil pastels or oil paints.

The main thing is you'll need to learn how to draw anime faces. If all you know is [black splotches for top eyelashes/eyebrows/mouth] then your anime faceup will range from looking like shit to a factory-printed faceup at best. Go for softer looks. Like >>21368294 says you can try again by removing mistakes with doll makeup remover, isopropyl alcohol, paint thinner.
