Just check the flowchart; the sleepover sets off fig2; the ring. Once you meet Arceuid, and agree to help her, she asks if you're christian; that's in response to seeing the ring. And, again, because of the ring (a charm), when Shiki is bitten, Arceuid is able to quickly fuse him with the chaos because of the ring subduing his vampire side; when Nero almost kills Shiki, the ring is how Ciel knows and is there to heal him (and be seen). Seeing her there leads to a couple of events that further their relationship, and increases figE, which sucks you into the Ciel route through an unavoidable check.

If Arcuied’s route and Ciel’s route were two sides of the same coin, I have to say that while Arcueid’s route was well defined and written, the complementary side (Ciel’s) didn’t reach me as well as Arc’s did.
