At his Sakuracon panel Ryukishi hinted that Ciconia will be taking a different turn in style from his previous works. While Higurashi and Umineko both focused on having players try to solve the mystery of the story themselves, Ciconia will have a much stronger focus on action with mystery elements scattered throughout. Ryukishi07 even issued a challenge to fans: “In this next game, I won’t give you the privilege of being a player!”

This challenge ties in directly with story elements and themes that were revealed for the very first time ever at his Sakuracon Q&A panel.

In Ciconia When They Cry, World War 3 has come and gone, with nuclear winter only narrowly avoided with cutting-edge technology leading to the development of a new ultimate military technology, the Gauntlet, which allows those wielding one to fly like fighter jets, fight like battleships, and repel attacks like tanks without any additional equipment. The Gauntlets require particular talent and special training administered from a young age in order to control, and the young boys and girls capable of mastering of them become known as Gauntlet Knights.The main characters of Ciconia When They will be a group of these young Gauntlet Knights who, after the peaceful competition in the International Battle Standard Festival, become fast friends vowing to prevent world war together. However, world events are leading directly to World War 4 like a cascading row of dominos, and these “main characters” are nothing but pawns in the global games played by those with a right to sit at the table. Will these youth be forced to murder each other? Can the tragedy of war be prevented by mere pawns? Who are the real players in these games, and will you, the fans of When They Cry, fight for your seat at this deadly game?

We are currently working closely with 07thExpansion and Witch Hunt, the team behind Umineko‘s localization, on Ciconia When They Cry, and intend to provide a simultaneous English release on MangaGamer and Steam when the game is released in Japan at this year’s Summer Comiket.

At this stage I can't even deny that statement.
Anyhow I was thinking that instead of commissioning an artist, i'd try to finish those two worthless udemy character concept art classes i purchased a while back for no real reason other than thinking that it would be nice to suck less at drawing. Although I'd still continue my search parallely with the learning, once i finish those trashy classes and practice some more I hope to at least reconstruct the overall lineart from memory in a better way than my atrocious mspaint attempt i did back in april then use that in a reverese image search, hoping one of the search engines would pop a matching result or pray that someone with the original image recognizes it (from my lineart yet to be completed) and posts the genuine version of it.
I swear to god though, this reminds me of the time when an entire 8h archive of kitamura eri radio show (my fav seiyuu behind numerous anime and game characters along with siesta410 might i add) was deleted from yt coz bs policies back in 2015 and i was only able to retrieve little bits and pieces of the program through niconico. Actually, Ooishi's older brother was Hideyoshi's dad, who died in his 40s. Hideyoshi inherited the yellow jacket of inceldom from his uncle when he retired back in 1983, but he was already married to Eva and passed it down to his son.

It's weird how RGD is so similar to Umineko in aesthetics, western names, focus on young adult and middle aged characters, magic not really existing... and yet the whole concept of the story is literally something I imagined while reading Higurashi. The idea of a kakera witch/god randomly altering history in a major way, like Bernkastel did in the secret ending of Matsuribayashi.

Higanbana is very reminiscent of Higurashi, with all the Japanese folklore, horror atmosphere, focus on underage characters, complete lack of western culture and magic being real. But it's full of references to Umineko and is the kind of story you'd expect to find somewhere in the Umineko metaworld. The story could have easily been written by Maria, the witch of origins who was supposed to become a "creator" in the future. The society of the school youkai is very similar to Beato's magic compendium, which included a whole society of mystery fiction angels, 72 demons from hell, etc, all with their own rules and hierarchies.

Arcs like Yoigoshi-hen imply that there's some kind of afterlife for the characters. There was also a prequel arc to Miotsukushi-hen that ended with Rena visiting the grave of an old friend from Ibaraki. Her friend's ghost appeared before her and they shared some parting words.

So maybe in those other worlds, they were at least able to find some peace even in death. Keiichi would no doubt feel horrible about his actions in Onikakushi-hen, but I think Mion and Rena would be able to forgive him.

I really like their translation. There will always be someone complaining, even though we all have only to gain from it. Witch Hunt worked hard for free to give us these translations of Umineko, and I doubt Ryukishi would trust another group to take care of the translation to make day 1 launch. I understand why some people complain about their translation. It is really "hyperliteral" at times, but I can't blame them since they didn't have the answer at that time.
Even then, their attention to details meant it was reliable enough to figure out if ryu tried to play the smartass or not with some definitions or red declaration.

I'm not sure if those guys read RGD or the steam version, but they improved quite a lot, although you can tell MG editors changed stuff like the sudden addition of the f bombs for whatever reason for the steam ver.

She is transferred to a new class, makes a couple of friends and decides to eliminate bullying from the roots as soon as it begins before it evolves into an unstoppable monster. The moral is that some bullying situations get so out of hand that they can only be escaped by getting lucky or just changing your environment and starting fresh somewhere else.

Second story is about one of her classmates who is a short beta boy that gets bullied and physically assaulted by a bunch of assholes. He takes some days off school to grow a pair of cojones and comes back completely changed, willing to fuck up anyone who attempts to bully him. Even if he's outnumbered, no bully wants to mess with someone that will fight back and hurt them. He goes too far in his revenge and becomes a violent asshole with a bullshit victim mentality that will never put an end to his "revenge". Yukari gets fed up with his shit and decides to do the same thing. She's physically taller and stronger than most of these prepubescent fuckboys and girl bullies, so she takes advantage of that to discourage her classmates from being assholes. Bullies are cowards who will not do shit unless their victim is defenseless, so it kind of works. Yukari becomes sort of a bully but with good intentions. If anyone crosses the line, they'll get their balls crushed on the way home. This bitch is fearless, or at least that's the image she tries to project.

In my personal experience, intimidation tactics do work against bullies. They only practice their favorite "sport" if the victim is a chicken unwilling to even put up some resistance, has no friends and there isn't a strong chad in the class who will selflessly get into fights to defend the weak. If they think they could get hurt or inconvenienced, bullying is not worth it.

Nope. Ougon Musou Kyoku never got an actual translation as far as I know, and I doubt there were any plans to give it one even prior to the announcement of the steam release. From what I've seen, the English release is pretty much the same. I don't know the technical details like the engine and such, but I doubt they would have gone through the effort to change much. They did improve the online multiplayer though, from what I've heard. Also no achievements as far as I can tell.
