You can play Touhou under Wine quite well, with the exception of SWR and PatchCon. Those two don't work even with DirectX 9 installed. Most VNs should work fine as they aren't exactly complex.

I play my VNs using a virtual machine. The vast majority work just fine. I use virtual machines for other things (e.g. platforms I can't cross-compile to) anyway.
