I don't think it's machine translation playing it, but it's clearly not someone with English as their first language. Not using periods at the end of a spoken sentence for example is a distinctly Japanese thing that doesn't work at all in English. It reads poorly because the japanese grammar and sentence structure shines through at every point, but it's coherent and consistent enough that I think it was done by an actual person.

SukiSuki is more of a dating sim than a moege with all the choices. It could have been 100% better if ChuableSoft wasn't already struggling with bankruptcy during development. If you look through SukiSuki's files there are so many sprites for Maya and Aoi, unused stuff too which got cut in the end due to development cost and time. Though SukiSuki is already larger than the average moege, I wonder how long it would be if Maya and Aoi got a route too.
Personally I liked the shitload of choices, I miss that shit in other titles. The mosaic free CGs were great too, but that's all I remember about it.

Once you confess to a girl the other girls don't disappear, they stay and are part of the route.
There are many scenes like where Mahiru is jealous that the MC is talking to other girls or the childhood friend asking if the MC and Mahiru are going on another date again. I loved that shit, 90% in other moege once you hit a route all other heroines straight up disappear forever.

How come Hello, Goodbye, a title originally released in 2010 has mosaic free CGs but Sanoba Witch, other Yuzusoft titles and Aokana don't have anything drawn under the mosaics?
Why are you lying NekoNyan? Just straight up say that you wouldn't get the license because developer X doesn't want to release it mosaic free and that they are afraid of the law, just like MangaGamer and minori for example.
Same shit with Sekai Project and Chrono Clock, where the mosaic free CGs were apparently lost according to their early kickstarter page, but they magically appeared after MangaGamer got Hapymaher.

I respect SukiSuki for at least trying to be ambitious. You can see what they were going for, and while I feel that it didn't really work out in the end, at least not the way they were hoping it would, I do like that they were trying.

That said, there's still quite a bit to like about the game, even if there are issues. The art in particular is still great, and the uncensored cg is top notch. The actual realistic clothing on the sprites is also a big plus, characters with clothing that doesn't stick like plastic wrap to the body is way more rare than it should be.

Depends on the work. Like it's obvious with the BL stuff. The Togainu No Chi, Lamento and DMMD fantl read better then any of Mangagamers BL releases. You can tell the people who worked on the patches actually enjoyed the content. Even the JAST release of Sweet Pool reads better then Managamer's BL releases.

Haro and the others working with Mangagamer don't seem to like it as much as they claim. The Luckydog1 translator might be an exception, she actually seems passionate about it.

Steam getting Kyonyuu Fantasy isn't too surprising as they seem to be okay with medieval fantasy nukige for one reason or another. The only exception to this rule was Mao Mao Discovery, IIRC. Even the issue with Niplheim's Hunter was admitted by Valve to be a mistake, so take that as you will.

Also, it kind of helps that the body types of the heroines make it extremely hard to call it cp, not that it stops idiots from calling it cp regardless.

actually most companies have gotten worse. The general translation quality has lessened and it's about a 50/50 split on whether a title has mosaics or not. On the flipside there's significantly more VN releases nowadays compared to how it used to be. 1998-2008 saw about 52 releases, most with moderate to high quality translations and none with mosaics(that's pretty impressive when you think about it). Whereas nowadays we'll get at least 35 releases each year and that's a rather conservative number.

SakuSaku was a fluke. The initial patch was buggy as fuck because of the encryption. Someone figured out the specific encryption for it and had it incorporated into GARbro several days after the release. There are hundreds of different kirikiri encryptions and many different modifications of the engine, which can spawn such abominations as .scn script files. GARbro itself is not the most useful tool for repacking, because the author is only interested in extraction. Try the other available kirikiri tools like krkrextract (or the krkrz version. Again, I don't know what your game is)

I spent 2 minutes looking up the character cast. The guy is literally named Niimi. Nii-yan is a nickname based on his name and has nothing to do with brother at all. Only an incompetent translator translating the novel blind without reading up on the characters could get it this wrong.

The proper translation would be for example Niiyan, as a nickname based on his real name.

As for Niini, I could stretch as far as Nii-bro if you MUST have a meme-translation. I wouldn't be the least surprised if it is supposed to be Niimi with a cute misspronounciation though.

God where do Sekai find these translators that do a worse job than me, who can't even read more than the bios page.
