Mythology in Touhou

We've seen vampires, moon rabbits, tsukumogami, a Greek goddess, and a lot of other supernatural/religious entities. Seeing how Gensokyo is a clusterfuck of mythology, what myths would you choose as inspiration for future youkai?

I have a few:
-Western cryptids like Mothman or Thunderbird
-More siren-like entities, namely Selkie
-Celtic gods, especially Morrigan so she can stir up shit with the tengu and Hecatia at the same time

On one hand, Western gods and urban legends could be fun. On the other, I really wouldn't want Touhou to turn into Fate, so I'd rather ZUN continue with selective and creative borrowing from the West, like in the case of Medicine.

Are there Japanese 20th century cryptids like the Mothman?

ZUN has already tackled a lot of the most popular Western youkai (fairies, vampires, werewolves, mermaids, witches, etc). I doubt after Hecatia, the Yorigami Sisters, and Okina that he'll introduce yet another god. I honestly don't know what non-Japanese/Chinese youkai he could do at this point. Perhaps a satyr or nymph (dryad, naiad, etc)? A lot of people are speculating (real) Hell to be the main setting for the 17th mainline game, so I suppose demons and devils are likely as well. If it does take place in Hell then I could totally see Lucifer being the extra boss. I think he was mentioned in the Fairies manga at one point.

I agree. Using literal historical figures and gods gets kind of old, I like the more imaginative characters like Hina or Clownpiece where they're derived from a general myth rather than a character

He might make an interesting enemy in a game but it's hard to see it becoming a fixture in the setting
Abrahamic religions are pretty explicit in their denial/disbelief of everything not their own while other mythologies are kind of fast and loose about it. Not that Christianity hasn't adopted lots of things, but it tries to paint over it a bit more.

A literal Jesus wouldn't be feasible anyway. Gensokyo is a haven for obscure or forgotten beliefs, and Christianity is far from both.
