After Comiket, I had to take my 200 doujins from the place I was staying onto another. I packaged them on top of each other in a plastic bag, cushioned them with clothes and divided them into 5 different stacks. I took them out today and some of them look like this.

Place thick cardboard at the top and bottom of each pile, make sure the clothes you are using to cushion it are distributed along the biggest surface possible, use folded shirts and pants instead of rolled up socks.
Don't leave the piles too loose, if the spine is thicker than the pages, alternate the orientation of the books.

Well I think it's a reasonable question worth seeing answered is all.

I also think that the music of kancolle, while pretty decent and has some good moments, doesn't engage people on the same level as ZUN's music so people haven't and aren't putting out as many cds. A Touhou song is so closely linked to a particular level and engagement with a character, when you hear おてんば恋娘 you immediately think of Cirno and this makes touhou music more memetic and memorable and gives people inspiration in their arrangements. Kancolle music tends to be more general in its approach and doesn't have the same impact.

I used a proxy service to both buy and ship two CDs (AVTechNO! 2038 and WAVE “Shen Dhitte” the Meteor Dragon) from toranoana. On Site 2038 is 1,800 yen and 680 yen to ship to the service. They took 250 yen as a handling fee yen and another 250 yen for insurance. Totaling 2,980 yen. "Shen Dhitte" was 1,944 yen, and they just took 250 yen for insurance. Totaling 2,194 yen. All together it totaled 5,174 yen and at that time it converted to $51.93 USD
Once the CD's arrive to the proxy services warehouse they will send me an invoice to pay for them to ship them overseas to me. I am going to guessimate based on prior service that it will be about 2,000 Yen / $20 USD (added a couple dollars just in case) to get it shipped to me.
Over all, when its all said and done it will cost me about $72 USD (give or take)
Right now I am waiting for them to receive the CDs and then they will send them out. I started this on Jan 6th.
If the shipping is like it was before It should take about 7 days to get here.
Now Looking at Otaku Republic they have "Shen Dhitte" for $42.06 with free shipping and "2038" for $40.01 with free shipping. Totaling $82.07 USD for both CDs. If you use the Standard shipping it will be about 2-3 weeks for delivery. Priority Shipping 5-15 days.
In the End it depends on if you want to save $10USD and if you wanna wait on shipping plus any time it could be waiting for it to clear customs.

Most public Discord servers have the same, shitposty xdfunny community of ironic Twitterers. The ease-of-use of Discord (I mean, softwarewise it's amazing) makes it prone to lazy server creation, lazy moderation and lazy userbase. Almost everyone lurks or just spams some bot. The tools are still there - want your own chat server that actually has a community? Make a Rocket.Chat (or Sla k). I did, and not only is it great for privacy and infinite customization, it also has far less lurkers. And since everyone actually put effort in, there's a far more tight-knit community.
So no, it's not mindless hate. I've used Discord, and still do, to talk to SUB-10 PEOPLE groups of people I personally know. Discord's great for that. But not for large communities!!

Any of the random server operators that were linked with the network you were on could log every message you sent (including private messages), and the majority of IRC is still sent unencrypted over the internet, so you don't even need to do anything fancy to spy on someone.

I have to disagree with this. I know plenty of situations in which an individual has set up their own IRC server, with secure connections only, and with no other points of trust. I only have to trust one person (and, perhaps, a cert root), and if that trust is broken, the damage is limited to a handful of channels. As I understand it, that's not the situation with Discord at all: with a Discord channel I would have to trust an individual and an entire corporation. From where I sit, corps have a much, much worse track record regarding privacy.

As for your last point, there's two sides to it. While a company has to keep to rules, they are also almost always interested in the data for monetary gain.

Of course, there can also be bad apples in between, for example Discord bot creator "NotSoBot", who openly states to not care for your privacy if you use his bot (which you won't have consented to, if you join a server with one without knowing the bot is in there...), or the creator of the cockli emails. Exactly. My servers see thousands of IPs every day, and unlike what Hollywood wants to make you believe, I give zero fucks about any of them. The only uses I have for them are to bundle error logs, check for multiaccounters and check for spam IPs. I could look up someone's IPs and see an estimation of what places they live in/go to, but why the fuck should I? It's not too bad and I don't know if it'll affect my scans, but if there's something I can do to flatten it I'd like to try. I've put this one on a wooden desk with several books on top for a few hours, but I don't know it made a difference.

It's not completely fixable, the fibers in the paper just broke, which you can't revert. However putting it under a considerable amount of books like you did for a prolonged amount of time might improve the condition significantly.

For minor warping due to humidity you can use the compression method that has been described earlier in this thread, but possibly consider also placing a paper towel in between every page. Use a lot of weight, about 5 kg.

You aren't going to fully repair them, especially if the paper is glossy or some sort of card stock. But you can mitigate some of the damage to make it less noticeable.

Did same with Alison, Mizuga and AzeLye since I'm a fan of them as well, just without calling everyone my #1. My favorite moment of C95 was doing finishing lap around touhou section and walked past Mizuga's stand. Both works were really funny, yeah. YukaMoko was kinda all over the place since you had so many scenes and characters but all of them were very funny individually. Or that might just be a joke itself.

Placing it underneath several heavy books flattened it a bit, but not perfectly. And there's still a crease. It's more visible on the back cover than the front, but I suspect that half of the inner pages are going to have a crease on them. Fuck.

Creases are more fixable than bent pages, but I think it's getting reasonably flat. I place more heavy books on top of the scanner lid which seems to be fixing it... but non-flat pages are a more subtle problem, and my eyes suck.

I work at a used bookstore, here's what you want to do:
1. Find a flat, hard surface where you can put the doujinshi for one-two weeks. This hard surface should be in a cool and dry part of your home, and out of direct sunlight
2. Find a hardcover books as big or larger than the doujinshi. The heavier the better, but it's important that the book is at least as big as the doujinshi so that pressure can be applied to the entire page.
3. Clean the flat surface with a dry cloth or paper towel. Do not use anything wet to clean the surface.
4. Place the doujinshi on the flat surface and the (also cleaned) hardcover book on top of the doujinshi.
5. Weigh the hardcover book down with 5 kg of books. Other weights are okay, but books or papers are best for ensuring that pressure is evenly distributed.
6. Every two days, remove the weight and hardcover book and turn the doujinshi over.
7. Repeat step six for two weeks or until the crease is gone or minimized.

It's possible to put multiple doujinshi under the hardcover book and added weight, but in my experience the process is slowed down if you try to do too many books or doujinshi at once with the same stack

Now, you're making it sound like this will even remove the crease. I'm mostly concerned with getting the pages flat against the scanner glass, since it messes up the color and page dimensions if it isn't flat.

I can try this for some of the books, at least. I'm going to scan that tewi book later today and see how it turns out. Fortunately, I have a ton of books I can use as weights.
