There are 2 big ones too, one being a limited release which I can not find anywhere, and an off brand Sukusuku.

I have the boat suku, she is big and well made so the Suika version should be fine.

Custom anon again, calico prototypes are starting well. Main experiment was proportions hence the (very) rough stitching. Next prototype will have a wider body and have the limbs properly attached. I also got the eye embroidery set up which was actually the easiest part.

More recent fumos don't have ear tags, as Gift decided to switch from tags to buttons. In this case, that Ran is one of the more recent fumos that have buttons (東方ぬいぐるみシリーズ40), as you can see from her page on the Gift website (http://gift-gift.jp/nui/nui524.html).).
As for the "Made in China" sign, as far as I know, all fumos have that. I checked some of my girls, both older and recent, and they all have butt tags that say "Made in China." The tag image the seller attached contains all relevant Gift contact info as well as "(c) Shanghai Alice," which leads me to believe that that Ran is authentic.

Ehh, im not too concerned over it myself, but it makes sense, especially for buyers outside of japan, as you can easily in excess of 50 dollars on just 1 fumo, with some costing in excess of 150 outside of japan. so it makes sense why people are overly cautious regarding whether or not its fake

Can anyone tell me what the base shape of the head of a fumo is?
I'm thinking that it's a bowl shape with an attached "face plate", although I've been looking at some fumos online and I haven't managed to pin down the shape.
It could also be a drum shape with two circular plates and a strip between, but I can't tell because of the layer of hair felt.
The body will be difficult, but I would like to get it down one part at a time, and as the head is the largest part of a fumo i will start with that.

There is this disassembled Remilia. Note that at some point after this and Gift started making the segments labelled BL and BR the same colour as the hair, rather than skin coloured. This was probably around the same time as they improved fumo hair in general.

To some degree, that is the case now. It's not a bad idea but you will be constrained by:
- With the modified hair design, the back of the head is the same colour as the hair (this happened between Suwako (#10) and Youmu (#11)
- The feet/shoes vary in colour
- The eye colours vary
- Mouth shape varies
- Smugness varies
