be honest /jp/, is 2hu dying?

It keeps getting games, written works and music CDs at regular intervals.
It's clearly not dying.

Fuck the fandom.

It’s okay I guess. There’s still a fanbase and the JP side still makes doujins and such. You can clearly tell when a franchise is dying though

Not dying but the overall fandom (especially outside japan) is shrinking.
It's not the craze it was during 2008~2012.

I'm from France and even here back then there was countless forum and community even some touhou cosplay at convention.

Now it's like i'm the only on still liking touhou project in the country, still buying shit like nendo, keychain and badges from amiami.

About games i still haven't played Hiden star in four seasons. But to be honest this days i'm mostly drived by my nostalgia from the early windows era.

Touhou is as popular as it needs too be. There seems too be this belief among some people that if you aren't the top dog then you're irrelevant. This simply isn't the case. It has managed too maintain top 5 at Comiket for so long and has actually been on more of a plateau than a decline, with small up and downs for years. Its still insanely popular and gets more content than you could ever keep up with. If numbers are what you care about, they should speak for themselves.
Touhou isn't dying, it just isn't the queen anymore. I literally see people all the time who are asking about how too get into the series and we already know that the younger generation in Japan has taken a keen interest too the series.
Touhou isn't going anywhere, it isn't declining, it wont be replaced. Stop making this thread.

>> No.19884781

If toho is in recline then why worry? Maybe real worry is ships' decline, and that we manage it better?

I would say no, it's pretty much the opposite imho.
You can go to wallmart and they have touhou doujinshi for the PS4 and Switch next to COD, Fifa and minecraft
Nintendo Youtube channel has trailers of Touhou games with millions of views.
Also in this year of our lord the only thing that something needs to go from absolute obscure to mainstream is to be featured in some youtuber video.
I remember when some day I logged in on twitter and saw that motherfucking fightbird of all things was the trendiest meme I was like, wtf the world certainly has become strange

>> No.19885194

no, I'd say it's on a rise again.
compared to boatsluts, who are just sexualized historical ships, 2hu is pretty much eternal because there are so many possibilities for new content.
as long as ZUN is alive, of course.

Last time I went to my local MediaMarkt and FNAC they had Gensowanderer for the ps4 and some other touhou game for the switch, and also fate games and rabi ribi.

They were corporate from the beginning, they were never even in the running.
Touhou survived and grew not because of it's games, characters or music or anything like that, but because of the way ZUN's dedication to it inspires others

>Touhou survived and grew not because of it's games, characters or music or anything like that, but because of the way ZUN let people do whatever they wanted with the thing, and that freedom allowed the fanbase to push their imaginations to their limits.

>> No.19886909

This meme is fucking retarded. HSiFS was the highest selling Touhoi game of all time. What you really meant to ask is "is Touhou's fanbase dying?" and the answer to that is partially. The secondaries who only liked EoSD through UFO are moving onto other series because they were never fans to begin with. Touhou still has among the top circle attendance and has it's own convention in the form of Reitaisai. ZUN said he would not stop making games even if there were no fans left. Touhou dies when ZUN dies. Stop making these kuso threads, you just want a Reddit anime/gacha/rights transfer speculation circle jerk thread. Sage.

>> No.19886938

ZUN art is a big factor in that. It's abstract enough that characters are very easy to draw them to fulfill whatever niche or fetish you want without detracting from their intended character much.
