felt stars came

chain is exactly what i want. stars were like 3 times too big so after a myriad of attempts i managed to cut one down to good size, that still retains the majority of its star shape. this should be the hardest part, because i am terrible with complex shapes and small stitches combined but am really good with shirts and basic shapes as for the hair i am at this rate most likely going to cut a few portions down/off

i didnt anticipate needing to stitch it in, i though fabric glue would've been all i needed so i never bought any yellow string. but i have since found out that felt on felt does not work at all with fabric glue.
also update on shipping, flan made it to new york customs at about 1 am est

This thread actually gave me the heads up for the Gift PM Homu. Scalper prices are fine just don't have the time to do any searching or to put into finding another commission slot.

yuugi fumo anon here with a quick update. the shipment went right past me, and as such will not be here until tomorrow. Furthermore, I wont be able to start work until later that night, but I should at the very least get the hair done and horn on done by tomorrow night, as well as the basic work of the skirt and shirt done

Hey /fumo/ I just had a weird dream that fumos actually have two face layers with two expressions total. Like Cirno has her normal smile, and underneath, she has a bigger smile. That was a world where fumos could be customized aftermarket by (ugh) cutting their face to reveal another expression underneath.

I did not want to cut my Cirno though, so I was just content to see her second face layer by shining her head against a bright lamp. I wish there were a way for fumos to switch their faces on the fly, without harming them.

Yuugi fumo anon here with another quick update, someone bungled something with some sort of shipping. It arrived in my town at around 3 am this morning. And it is either in the cities post office with usps and they just forgot to send it to my campus post office for delivery. OR my campus post office has it, and they forgot to deliver it. Either way I dont have flan right now, and I will find out tomorrow morning when I wake up who currently has it. Luckily tomorrow is a better day with regards for work than today.

i got lucky and found a kaguya recently. she's very cute with a nice smile. if you love her lots i think you'll like her fumo. someone else earlier in this thread was looking for a Kaguya too!

if you do go the route of trying to get her be sure to use a reputable reseller or something like Buyee/YAJ from someone with a good rating and pictures.

I decided not to fully remove the hair, as the gabardine i got, while good in color, was not nearly fluffy enough for my tastes. so i merely trimmed the front curl, and removed the weird side hair piece with a pair of scissors. the horn is not attached yet, im holding it there to show what it should look like 1/2

my advice to ANYONE who wants to do a similar thing to what I did. just get your materials and keep at it. it was most definately a trial and error process for me. as it took a combined total of around 16-18 hours to get done. only about 8 hours if you were to only count time where i made actual progress and wasnt just stuck

I used cotton cloth for the clothing, as for hair, I just used the hair that was already there, however, fleece would work well as a hair, albeit it may be a bit too fluffy for some peoples taste. As for attaching the shirt, I basically had 4 main parts. The 4 parts are the 2 sleeves, and the front and back end of the shirt. I initially attached the front and back at the top at the shoulder area, then attached at the waist. After that, I attached the sleeves at the holes that were created by the joining of the front and back. While this picture isnt the most pertinent thing, as it relies on having the ability to slip on the shirt which would require you to temporarily behead your fumo it is a main thing that I used to get the gist of shirtcrafting. This was especially helpful with the creation of the sleeves

Yes, although they can still be hard to find. You should be able to find the most recent release (The Yakumos). I would check in Touhou specialty shops like AKIBA HOBBY in Akihabara.

I say "the most recent release" even though the Yakumos are not that (the newest release is Cirno/Tanned Cirno/Mokou again) because I could not find that release anywhere physically in Japan for some reason. I don't know what GIFT is doing with this set of Fumos, but they're not available at any regular fumo resellers, which is really bizarre.

You don't have to iron them. Fumo creases are fumo creases. If they get uncreased, then they get uncreased. Introducing high heat might just needlessly destroy the fabrics that make up fumos. Just enjoy the fumos. I don't know any other reason to have to flatten out everything unless I were selling them and have to take good pics.

If you are bent on doing so, just keep them flat and they should uncrease in time. And maybe parts that stick out like dresses could be covered with a small book if you really wanted to. But that might just include more creasing.

There are a couple shops in Akihabara. AKIBA HOBBY is the best place to go, in my experience. They had a bunch of fumos from the most recent release (Yakumos) and the common ones like Reimu, Remilia, and Marisa. I went to the Surpara shop because I've heard it had fumos too but there were none there at the time. Both of them have plenty of Touhou stuff though, like shirts, wall scrolls, and music. AKIBA HOBBY sells sukusukus as well. I spent a lot of money there. Zerokonbu made a video showing the two shops for people looking for them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAdjbINKRM0

I found Meiling in one of the Suruga-ya shops but that was extremely rare and very lucky. I would not count on being able to find fumos in those shops, but you can check if you like.

The metal safety pin badges are nicer than the cardboard tags anyway. My gripe is that quite a few online sellers remove them from the packages and sell them separately.

The tush tag is still there, if you're concerned about authenticity. Just remember that ver 1.5 fumos have done away with the "Designed by ANGEL TYPE" line.
