I used to really like Japanese stuff (animoos, mangos, etc.) so I took Japanese classes and studied abroad in Tokyo.

What a boring place. Too expensive to have any fun, everyone's either scared of white people or asks you the same questions over and over, architecture's ugly, culture's dumb, TV's horrible...I couldn't even get Internet in my apartment for 2 months!

I'm so glad to be back in America. What do you guys see in that place?

Everything i like about Japan i can get either by simply consuming their culture in my country, or by communicating with Japanese people via the internet.

I have little desire to set foot in Japan other then to say I've been there.

Besides 2D related stuff (which is enough by itself), there are some other things I like better about Japan than the US, which is the only other country I've ever lived in. They include:

1. Very few retarded religious people
2. Safe city streets
3. Good public transportation
4. 2ch and a primarily Anonymous internet accessible from cellphones

They've got escapism done to an art form.

The history and culture is also interesting. America is only 200 or so year olds so there's not much history.

Japan has feudal war lords and samurai uprisings and myths about tree spirits who rape you if you walk into the house with shoes on.
