It makes me happy to see that I understand about one third or half of what's written in the Japanese dialogue text compared to one fifth or nothing that I did back when the game was released. About most multiple kanji including words I have vague idea about since I can recognize at least one kanji from them and think about what might fit the context.

Finally I can finish the game without feeling bad about not understanding it.

Disappointingly underwhelming, they just added subtitles to the bottom of the screen for the in-game dialog, and translated some of the most important headlines. The English fan translation already available at Touhou Patch Center is vastly more ambitious, with completely re-drawn speech bubbles, spell card titles, and menu items. In fact, some of the English is even a bit wonky in the official translation.

So...this is what happened at the end of Shion's fight(far from my guess).
Apparently, the reason why Reimu can spam spellcards is because Shion releases her hidden bright aura which leads to her own failure.

If you look up the guy credited for the translation, you can see that he’s a professional translator, but one who’s primary work is Japanese to Korean translation. The subtitles aren’t duwang or anything like that, but they could definitely have used a proofreading pass or something.

In a way they kind of did. The dude who did the translation is John Ilan, who apparently usually does Japanese to Korean translations (but also knows English) and works for a big US based company named JTG Inc. that does things like translations, analytics stuff, and software training for governments and other companies. The company itself isnt actually involved from what I understand and the guy is just a huge fan who wanted to do the translation and reached out too Tasofro and ZUN. He's also been on ZUN's streams a few times before.
But yeah it was basically one dude who did the translation as a fan, and its clear his English isnt flawless. Its also worth noting that weeks before the translation even dropped Tasofro said that the translation was being done by someone who is a professional translator but also a fan of the series.

Id say that using the autopatcher is the better option right now if youre looking for a clean and accurate translation. The official translation is pretty clumsy and not as good as what we currently have, not too mention not everything is translated (like Spellcards and Music titles).

The final fight of Sumireko's route froze on me.
Then I encountered a bug during the final shmup section of the final chapter that made Tenshi invincible.
Even though the game is finally finished, I still don't feel very satisfied with the end result. I wish a pestilence god would come down and kill me.

I decided to finally play 15.5 today hoping that thcrap would have completed the translation by now, and I found there is a v.10 update to v.10, which also has an official translation. Also, thcrap doesnt seem to recognize this update, and can only run v.10.
So which one should I choose? What are the changes in v.10? Are they significant? And which one is better, the official translation or thcrap one?
