>>18636123
Yeah I prefer the anime as well. The only thing I regret about it is that the inclusion of material from the other routes in Season 1 caused them to shift some stuff around regarding Tomoya and Nagisa's relationship so that they start dating later, so you miss some of their earlier relationship development. But that's pretty negligible given how well the anime did with everything else. It's a great example of how to make an adaptation; i.e. how to take the same material and switch it into a different medium effectively. So many of the scenes in After Story are improved by the use of montages or visual effects that aren't possible in a VN. Take the scene where Tomoya talks to his grandmother about his father, which in the VN is just a normal conversation. But the anime adds Tomoya observing various scenes from his childhood presented in comparison to his relationship with Ushio (it also changes the music to something more fitting). It makes the scene hit much harder; the anime version of that scene made me cry, but the VN didn't.

>> No.18636411

>>18636390
The scene where Tomoya asks Nagisa to get married, the whole trip to visiting his grandmother and coming back (the train scene), Tomoya visiting his father with Ushio, Nagisa's and Ushio's death, all of it was wonderful in all ways. It's also awesome how they animated the Illusionary World scenes frame by frame instead of every 2-3 frames as is usual in anime. After Story is my favorite anime along the Haruhi movie.

Fuck, I cried a lot with this scene. It's awesome what they did with Dango Daikazoku. They created such an innocent song and built it throughout the entire anime so that it became one of the most touching and nostalgic songs, and that's a huge compliment.

Got bad news for you mate. I can't imagine KKK being translated by the virtue of it being far too japanese. A lot of the language is archaic, lots of Buddhism references, chants that cannot be translated especially without any of its nuance being lost. Even the team who worked on dies irae still consider it to be impossible or rather extremely difficult.

>> No.18637541

>>18637520
Oh I know that far, I've seen part of it. The vertical textbox is also a problem. But I think it would still be doable even if a bit of the nuance is lost here and there, it would just require a really competent team and allowing them to work for a really long time. And considering the knowledge the original Dies Irae team amasses together in Japanese and Steiner's knowledge of Buddhism, I think they would be the perfect ones.

I'll bite, here's something for the yaoi side cause no ones really mentioned any yet. JAST is finally giving us the N+C kamige after MG only licenses kusoge.

Bara no Ki ni Bara no Hanasaku - From CYC's BL line (CYC Rose). Places highly on the Japanese side but it's relatively unknown in the west.

Shingakkou -Noli me tangere- - One of the titles that tops Japan's lists. Really really good but very religious.

Taisho Mebiusline - Really well researched and has an anime kinda (it's a series of 3 minute ONA shorts). However the kanji level is harder then standard titles.

Tokyo Onmyouji - One of the better BL Supernatural Mysteries.

Gakuen Heaven - One of the oldest BL titles but still important. Received an anime over 10 years a go. Was re-released a few years back (Mixed Edition) which merged content from the PS2 and PSP editions into the PC version.

For the non-yaoi side...
Anything Black CYC really, particularly the titles from their golden years. Mindead Blood and Gore Screaming Show would be the biggest 2.

Momoiro Closet managed to reach its $35k goal with a bit under two days remaining. It should get a considerable boost for the last couple days, as you would expect during the closing hours of a Kickstarter. You... You know the history of the Koiken Otome project, right? It was literally some fuck on Fuwanovel saying "I wish this was translated" whereupon about a dozen ESL MTL Fuwatards descended, each translating a little bit, repeatedly being outed for literally having written on their bios that they can't actually read Japanese and use MTL. And then they got caught CONTINUING to use those people because "it's just for the H scenes, and the meaningless ones. They don't count." Our intrepid original twat soldiered on, saying that every single problem had been fixed overnight in editing, until they eventually released it, supposedly throwing out tens of thousands of lines to assure the highest possible quality despite having over two dozen translators, most of which had never translated anything before or since, none of them vetted at all.

Koiken Otome is not translated. It has some English text inserted into it that's a best guess from Brazilian and Malaysians that's been edited into readability.

I looked at the video, but can only compare the voiced lines, which are all ridiculously simple. It still makes some pretty basic comprehension mistakes. Easy example. About the fourth spoken line in. 思いっきり is obviously the important part of the sentence. She's saying "You ran into my nose on purpose," or if you want to be retardedly literal "You struck me on the nose with intention." The "on purpose" part is the important part of the statement. That's translated as "You went and ran into my nose."

The line after it, "You should watch where you're going" instead translated as "It wouldn't have happened if you watched where you were going." A few lines later, there's one that's just a fucking disaster and you can tell it's clearly wrong even without knowing Japanese because they reduced like three connected statements into one weird guess that doesn't make any sense in context.

End of last year, after two incidents within weeks of each other. First, a super skeevy tweet about about how one of his coworkers cosplaying as a maid hits all his fetishes. He shut his twitter down for about a week after that an deleted the tweets.

A couple weeks after that, he threw a huge tantrum on both Twitter and Dischord when people were complaining that one of their releases was full of crashing problems, unedited text, and raw Japanese, blaming them for being entitled, that they can't afford to do things like QA, and that people need to shut up and be thankful they're releasing anything at all, and told people who compled (like see below) to fuck off.

You know. The real problem is that if you really do not care about the games you buy the license for, and you have no thresholds or standards. Everything in society eventually collapses on itself. Shit job or not, they already made money from it and those 2k copies according to steamspy are a sweet bonus on top of that cash.
1 year later it will end up in a Humble Bundle where they will make even more money.

Dovac is an asshole but he was right about some things:
Why waste time and money when every of their kickstarters gets funded anyway regardless of quality or untranslated lines.
Even if they are caught doing a shit job their CEO on the reddit AMA blamed everything on the ''bad game engine'' and looking that the AMA thread had over 200+ up votes those monkeys actually believed all the shit that he said and they will most likely continue to buy and fund their trash translations in the future.

In short, SP won't change, get better or die out anytime soon.

I don't frequent this thread and I don't want to come out as an annoyance, but would anyone mind helping me remember the name of a visual novel? I think it was released somewhere between 2012 and 2015.

It was English translated and the premise was there were a couple of young magic students: a redhead and a brown girl which you tutored basically you were holed up in a tower learning magic which involved throwing dice to cast magic and collect points. There was a quest log, you could learn more magic to gather more points and you were asked to hold tests to advance the game. Thanks.

Momoiro Closet finished with $42,127 from 703 backers from an initial goal of $35k. That works out to be the lowest total for a Frontwing crowdfunding project thus far (just behind the $43k and $45k that the latter two Corona Blossom IGG projects brought in, and behind the $49k that the last Phantom Trigger Kickstarter managed), despite being a full length title that isn't a volume that is part of a series. That said, it wouldn't be a surprise if the crowdfunding market happens to be somewhat less interested in more nukige type titles, as Tsundere Idol didn't clear its own goal of $10k Canadian by that much either.
