Yeah, I doubt that most average people would probably care. However, it is kind of a site where they regularly crack and pirate Konami's games and R1 kind of has the sole rights to use them in the states. If you were an employee or manager and knew what it was, I would wonder if you would want to silence it for either business or copyright related reasons. Can someone help me out? I asked for help last night with my new iidx controller. The button was hitting something as I was pressing it and an anon told me my button might have been put in upside down or something.

I didn't have the hardware to open up the controller until today, but I'm a little stumped as to how I actually go about rotating the button. I've only gotten as far as disconnecting the wires from the button. I'm not sure how to remove the microswitch from the bottom. Could someone either explain what I need to do or send me a video showing how to take the button out? I couldn't find one myself when I looked.

someone in the last thread asked about the quality of iidx figures. i have a few and i like them, the more recent prize figures. i have hifumi and iroha and they look good, not super cheap. nothing incredibly fancy, but they're only worth about 20 bucks so what do you expect.

I feel like I'm going insane trying to learn this shit. My brain doesn't process my thumb being left of my index finger and I keep hitting the wrong key.

Then about halfway through any song, my left index will just fuck off and start pointing straight instead of resting above the button.

I've only been trying for a couple sessions over the past few days. I was having a lot of trouble scratching when i played "normally" and a bunch of videos said not to play the way I was playing.

I'm just starting out with the series as a whole, so I'm still getting tripped up by a lot of stuff that should be easy regardless. But I figured the earlier I start with playing the "right way" the fewer bad habits I'd have to unlearn.

i wasn't able to go full 1048 right away. for awhile i had to play with my right hand in 1048 (thumb5,index4,middle6,pinky7) and my left hand still the way i normally had it back then (ring1,middle2,index3). eventually, my right hand felt so normal that i was able to focus only on my left hand, because naturally the right hand was doing 1048 without focus. it took about another month of left-hand focus to be able to get 1048 left hand (thumb1,middle2,index3) to stick. but once it did stick, it became second nature, and i wasn't tripping over my fingers anymore.

in regards to being new and wanting to do everything right from the start, the 1048 playstyle really helps on extremely dense stuff. and on early difficulty things with only a few notes, its going to feel awkward no matter what. so try to push yourself once you can do it, and you'll see it becomes more natural and comfortable feeling as the number of notes goes up, and more awkward no matter how skilled you are at it when the number of notes goes down.

I'm not sure if my LR2 is wrong or my ability to time notes properly is shit. Regular "Great" timings sound better than the flashing "Great" timings, but that could just be me being unfamiliar with the songs too.

It feels like I'm getting a little better at hitting the notes themselves, but I've made it harder for myself trying to scratch. When I did ring, middle, index, I could at least kind of scratch with my pinky, but now in an effort to force my fingers to stay on the right buttons, my hand wants to scratch with the side of my hand/wrist. I really hate it. I dont have any control and it ends up pulling my fingers away from the buttons anyway

Recently stated to play Stepmania again, and downloaded some new packs.
The song difficulty in some of the newer packs is messed up (novice is harder than expert) is there any way to fix this?

This isn't going to work. This genre's combination of huge skill ceiling (at least for the relevant games) and abysmal growth rate means it would take a newcomer at least 5+ years of practice with zero return throughout and likely none at the end because you also need huge talent to have any chance of getting remotely close to titans such as Dolce and Tatsu who will likely continue to dominate their games until retirement. No sane esportsfag would ever take such a risk. High level rhythm games have always been and will always continue to be a domain of hobbyists.

Look. I don't have any particular hope for it helping anything either. I don't watch video games, I don't buy into esports being beneficial, and I think watching IIDX is general is boring and presenting IIDX as an esport will be a total failure. I just want IIDX to live as long as it can, and if this somehow manages to help that goal, then that's tolerable, because it means IIDX is alive. I can ignore all the esport crap with this as I do with everything else.

Kind of like why people watch SDVX KAC over IIDX.

IIDX is for purists who want a game in its simplest form, no art, or lane flips, just pure mechanics. The only observers would be people who can comprehend the difficulty of a KAC level chart, and what it mechanically takes to perform such a feat.

With SDVX, any normie can understand the level of difficulty while being able to watch art work shows, new gimmicks, the kinetic impact of lasers with the new music, etc.

I’m not saying that SDVX is superior to IIDX as a rhythm game, but it certainly is more visually appealing, especially to normies who just wanna watch the lane flip and see colors on the screen.

Another major issue is that with IIDX, if two players happen to both play on a certain side, then that means the round takes twice as long to go through, including e-pass scanning and navigating song select. It doesn't support local matching like SDVX and jubeat do, so there'll be many rounds that end up being one-by-one instead of one-on-one, taking away from the tension. Maybe they could get around this with an esports-focused event mode, but I'm not putting down any expectations. As a "music game", I think IIDX is fine where it is as a game, so it should be more focused on trying to pull in people through the "music" aspect. While handcam support is nice, the attempt at eSports just seems unnecessary.

Is auto adjust judge timing in LR2 cheating or something? Because it sounds like notes aren't playing at the right time when I hit them perfectly according to the game. As soon as I put auto adjust on, everything sounded like it should when my timing was spot on.

If you’re playing one of the styles that has a Timing Adjust option (Happy Sky-Empress I think?), then you can set it up to work with your LCD.

But for styles released before that option, you will have to hit very early to compensate for display lag, which will be confusing when combined with the audio.

On the same subject beatmania 2nd Mix is in my Top 3 Bemani games ever. Had just the right balance of classic songs, fun charts, and the game doesn’t take itself so seriously. Also Hiroshi Watanabe is the GOAT artist to this day.

So why is this the only answer to every IIDX question on western sites when every other game has optimal approaches to solving problems or issues in play rather than bashing your head against an issue until something ~randomly~ clicks or you cycle through the tedium of trial and error? You can try rotating your hand a bit for 6-7 trills. Otherwise do something like index + ring/pinky or index + thumb or just use your other hand to help if the chart allows it.
As the other anon said though, time solves most of your issues. I used to be terrible at streams and 6-7 trills/right hand patterns in general and I've seen a large improvement despite not changing anything.

Is the only way for me to get the taiko ps4 game to order a physical copy, or do I make a japanese account? Is there any any trade off to either option? Will I not get updates if I just buy a japanese physical copy but play on an english account?

on the fps, yes, because you can swap the distance from keys to TT between ac distance and koc distance. of course you'll have dao keys rather than sanwas, but if you won't be playing on a cab you won't notice a difference. I think the case of the fps is smaller than the fp7 case as well, technically.

Just playing with your NA psn account won't allow you to get the 1st print dlc songs so there's that(only available for asia/jp depending on the version you get)
