How good is the kanjidamage+ deck?

is JLPT N2 passable after 16 months of study? i started on august 1. this year and my country only has JLPT once a year in december and I feel like in a year JLPT N3 would be way too easy but JLPT N2 might be too much of a stretch

if i continued ankidroning +20 a day and reading more i'd be at 9500+ words or so when the test day comes, says here JLPT N2 requires only 1000 kanji and 6000 vocab, which sounds doable, right? google search says JLPT N2 takes 2-3 years though, are they dekinais who only learn in class, or is it actually more difficult than the numbers suggest?

I'm sure if you keep up a healthier diet than mine, you can do it in 16 months.

Make a point to finish Core10k in under 500 days and invest some time alternating between reading/watching content and reading grammar references like DoJG.

Both. Instead of CoreXK I took vocab from Tae Kim itself (yes I know it contains a lot of otherwise-useless words like 確定申告, but it makes reading it way easier and does contain the most basics). After finishing Tae Kim in this manner it's already possible to go reading and mining. I dislike Core for some reason.

Sorry for the blog-type post, but work has been hectic for me and I've barely been home in the past two months. I do my daily flashcards on my lunch break, but I haven't looked at anything grammar related or done any reading in about a month. I'm going to Japan next month with a group of people who don't know any of the language and will be relying heavily on me. But at this point I can barely remember how to string a sentence together.

If I finished Tae Kim's 'complete guide' (everything under 'Complete Guide' at http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/category/complete-guide/ - 'Before you start' to 'Other useful expressions'), would this provide me with enough grammar to speak to people? If it's just a tourist trip you should probably figure out things you might want to ask and memorize template sentences for such things. You would also have to be able to understand whatever answer you get so maybe learn words that would be used as an answer to your question

Outside of wanting to look like you know what you are doing, learning Japanese is not THAT important if you are just a tourist. English (or Japanese) words and pointing at things should work for the most part

Personally the correct pronunciation of ん in certain positions makes me uncomfortable, e.g. sentence final, in words like 勧誘... it's not that I can't, I just forget about it and make an IPA [n] and that's not the sound that Japanese people make there. I also have trouble merging vowels seamlessly across word boundaries; I think the Japanese vary pitch across morae of uninterrupted vowel sound to convey that but for some reason that's impossible for me.

While you are correct in that 王母 refers to 西王母, 瑶池 is the place where this occurs. The subject of the sentence is not an implied "I", it's 王母. Subjects in literary Japanese are usually unmarked, as here.

What are the recommended post-Genki/Tae Kim grammar resources?

I've been looking through Steve's videos lately and he often mentions that he flips through grammar books every now and again to help him notice things that he might've missed so far in his reading, so I figured I'd give it a shot myself since I've been reading for a few months now. I don't think I'd get anything out of re-reading Genki or Tae Kim though since I had a quick glance through both and I'm pretty sure I know everything in them already.

Note: I'm not looking for something like DoJG or HJGP since they aren't really meant to be read through but are intended to be used more like dictionaries for looking up specific things. In any case, it would take way too long to read one of them cover to cover.

Tobira, Kanzen Master stuff, and linguistics resources meant for natives.

But once you can read with relative ease, reading a lot is the fastest way to learn new grammar. The human brain is rigged to be impossibly good at figuring out how grammatical things work through pure exposure, and until you get to the linguistics resources, the logic or reasoning behind anything but very basic grammar is going to be impossible to understand at a conscious level, let alone find explanations for. This is why the grammar dictionaries are so highly recommended. They give you a shortcut to understanding things when reading, which makes you acquire them faster.

Depends on how shittily written. In both languages, writing something like "Station. Train. How get? Way?" or something similar gets the point across even though it's extremely basic.
But I'd probably say Japanese because you get used to filling in the blanks for omitted information. An English sentence with all the articles and plural/singular distinctions removed plus a possibly screwed up sentence order (when English has a far more rigid sentence order than Japanese does) can become incomprehensible pretty quickly.

But anyway, in that case I don't really know, but I'd wager that a native in both languages who has little understanding at all of how cursive/chickenshit writing looks then possibly the Japanese person will have a harder time. Thing you are supposed to remember on front of card. Explanation of the thing on the back. Example: front, 走る, back, はしる, to run. When the card pops up, look at it and try to remember what 走る means. Flip the card, if you were correct and it didn't take you too long to remember, press good. If it took you a long time to remember or you couldn't remember, press again. Press hard if you feel like you might forget it soon even if you remembered it this time.

When you are trying to associate the meaning to the symbol, you might try coming up with some sort of mnemonic in your head. So, 走る has the radical for land on top and the radical for foot on the bottom. Running is like putting your foot on the ground again and again. You might look into memorizing the radicals first if kanji are giving you a hard time.

I like to say the words out loud (well, more like mutter under my breath) as I write them with pencil and paper, I don't generally make explicit mnemonics other than trying to be aware of how the radicals might make sense with the meaning, but different things work for different people. You will have to experiment to figure out what works for you.

There's no chance for those two to get mixed up. There are many more cases when words can get mixed up or there's no way to tell them apart in spoken form, and vice versa in written form, but it's almost always clear from context alone.

空 can be read そら or から and mean two completely different things depending on that, but there's rarely any room for confusion here.
私立 and 市立 are theoretically pronounced the same but their meaning is clear in written form, so to differentiate the two people say わたくしりつ for the former in spoken form. Same with 科学 and 化学, the latter is pronounced ばかがく even though they're both written the same.
死、四、市、詩、and 氏 are all written the same but some have different pitch accents to tell them apart.
And so on and so on.

Japanese is a heavily context-dependent language and things will inherently make sense to you the more you learn.
In spoken form if you really don't know what word the other person is saying, you can always resort to the age-old "the character from that word and the character from that other word" or draw it in the air or use your phone to type it out. Or just repeat yourself with a similar word so they might guess the one you meant.

If you come across a UK word written with kanji then if you think you'll see it again or if it just bothers you then add it to your deck.
Beware that there are some people who write with as much kanji as possible just to fuck with everyone else so it's very possible you're just running into some content whose author thinks he's so refined for refusing to use kana unless where absolutely required.

At some point you'll likely hit a level of understanding which is fluent enough not to care all that much about background noise in comprehension, similiar to English. That level depends on the individual, since fluency doesn't necessarily make demands regarding intelligence or aptitude.

If you're being confused with individual kanji study, you should focus on words now instead. Why? Because the purpose of individual kanji study is to make individual words harder to confuse and easier to remember. You're 800 kanji in, so you've already gotten the "My brain no longer sees kanji as a bunch of scribbles" benefits. After all, words help you read, not individual kanji.

Are you questioning how ッ is read? Google doubled consonants, there are different explanations and none are amazing. Also, it can terminate a word as a glottal stop. You may also want to look into katakana usage reserved for foreign sounds, such as ディ (and ヴ) while you're at it.
If I misunderstood, then what was already said, loanwords are no longer English. They don't care about English pronunciation, they usually add pitch accent, and sometimes meanings diverge somewhat significantly.

Don't make it sound like there is no rhyme or reason. You could look for research papers, but the often-repeated guidelines on many resources are pretty reliable. You should probably pick it up through listening to natives instead, but it's good to look at examples so that you can at least learn to recognize the four sounds, instead of misinterpreting spoken language to fit into the sounds you expect.

If by type into, you mean type the answer, that is a feature, google how to use it. I recommend against it however, because it can be slower than mentally testing yourself, and it doesn't teach you anything more to type romaji-based input which you don't really need practice to do.
Which is why I hate Wanikani after having some enthusiasm for it for a few months last year. All the enter key pressed bothered my pinky more than a lifetime of pc gaming and heavy typing had, and on top of the slow pace, my retention rate wasn't very good. Also a lot of the mnemonics I felt were really shitty. Finally, I don't agree with learning readings separately from vocabulary.
Regardless, in my opinion, you want something that you can extend to vocabulary through (your own) mined n+1 sentences, so familiarity with Anki or an equivalent is a much better solution. This part is more debated, but I also think that n+1 sentences on vocab that use the kanji you are currently learning help solidify the kanji, as opposed to doing kanji in isolation. Find what is most effective for you, though.

RTK or KLC but following RTK's advice to ignore readings because they're useless by themselves and will be learned with vocabulary. Then (or simultaneously if you don't mind both being slower at both but maybe having more context to associate with kanji) n+1 sentences (exactly one new word, easy to understand after looking up that one new word) mined from Japanese text of steadily increasing difficulty.
When it's sentence time, read grammar resources when you are confused by something (and definitely read an introductory textbook for the basics), but for the most part you shouldn't need to practice grammar by itself, and instead pick it up with the sentences.

I can't answer your specific question because I'm an amateur and can't into monolingual dictionaries. But in general, there are several possible reasons for kanji usage. As far as I can find from some quick googling, 分ける fits a meaning of the hanzi and thus may have used it for meaning. 分かる is also 解る in which the kanji is associated with the correct meaning. It was possibly changed to re-using a kun reading (わかる is also common) for quicker writing, since the word is common. But because occasionally Japanese usage is readopted back into China, it's hard to guess without a proper dictionary that contains that kind of etymological information.

If you haven't done kanji either, consider something like KLC as a guideline for kanji order and vocab (skip vocab that seems useless as long as you have at least one word containing each kanji), as it is built to be n+1 but also in terms of kanji and radicals.
