Trial was short and okay. Served mostly as an introduction to the characters and what's happening in the countryside. Will start the prequel tomorrow. There's some jokes in between serious conversations. Just that some of the scene switching from serious to funny is kind of jarring. I look forward to what family politics drama and shit that will be in the full game. I hope that year and a half was worth the wait.

Kanishino. There's a side girl whose whole shtick is having a crush on another male teacher from the start and they get engaged off-screen in a handful of endings.
Senshinkan has the protagonist's two male friends with their own separate love interests, and IIRC Asairo has minor nudges towards such thing later on but neither games really go all the way through with it. Out of the two Senshinkan is absolutely more overt about it though.

Finished the prequel. That was really interesting. Gave me a better idea of what's happening during the trial. It shows circumstances in the Yoshioka family and the MC and Juri's past. How am I supposed to root for not-Nono in the main game after reading the prequel?

It's basically a love triangle drama, but there's a lot going on in the background with the corporation and townspeople. I don't know what direction it's ultimately going to take, but the setting has a lot of room for the writers to do interesting things with it. I personally also enjoyed the way it's presented (at least in the trial): third-person, relatively large cast, shifting perspectives. Makes it read more like a novel than a typical eroge.

To be honest it's a bit hard to get a handle on, because the trial itself is short and the prequel story, 泥亀の月, has a very different tone from the main game and focuses on different characters for the most part. I would suggest trying out 泥亀の月 (link: >>17602565), and seeing what you think. It's a pretty interesting little story, even just on its own.

I'm not completely against moege and like some, but Marshmallow was not too great. It's just: Most moege are even worse. Even a lot worse. I tried the Whirlpool release of the same month, and it made me hate all the girls within not even 10 minutes. Marshmallow may not be that great, but it was better than that.

Moege are ultimately just about how much you can resonate with one of its heroines. I think, the moment you are fine with reading more than one route, it's already a failure. How can "you are the only one!" and all the "pure love" stuff work, if you go just from girl to girl, like a horny dog who's just in for the tits anyway? It just feels fake and empty. The love-triangle part is at the trial since that where the Iroha is introduced, love at first sight with the MC but reveals that the MC likes(?) Juri. And there's hint of family politics involved in the trial and that was pretty apparent with the prequel. I was also expecting a moege with some simple story going on with the corporations and all but it feels like it's going to be deeper than that due to that hint I mentioned.

And I'm liking the main two chicks already. I went in just because of Iroha who looks like Nono from Yotsunoha but damn her character feels great because she looks like that but has authority. And Juri because of the prequel, she wasn't shown that much on the trial.

A completely different cast makes for a completely different experience. But if you have the same cast, the same protag and so on, going from girl to girl will always cheapen the "pure love" aspect. You aren't fine with the girls getting another boyfriend in a different route either. Probably at least. It's a similar thing.
If however you only play one girl's route and say "yes, this was this guy's/my story and I'm absolutely content with it", then the "you are the only one" pure love stuff has more value. The relationship has some staying power. If you think back to the game, this one relationship defines it. Reading another route would just feel silly with a (for you) perfect ending for this game/MC/story. At least for a while.

Interested in is fine. If the other girls are simply shit, then yeah, that's probably not that great. The point however is, that one girl needs to be good enough that you still don't want to read another girl's route afterwards, even though you'd normally be interested. Subarashiki Hibi is a babby's first VN of the worst kind. It's a bad story, a clusterfuck of setting and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive rape faggotry and DEEP. The NEET anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.

However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for real deal kids who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. I thought it was good. It's been a long time so I don't remember a lot of specifics, but I remember enjoying Chihaya's route quite a bit. Subarashiki Hibi is a babby's first VN of the worst kind. Last time people in this thread discussed it we seemed pretty divided on it. Like the other anon I also preferred the first three routes more, i.e. Miyabi > Tonoko > Shino.
Sumika and Misaki's routes are bit lackluster but Yuuna's is better. However Yuuna's route is locked behind enforced order and you have to complete the other two routes first, in which case be sure go in Sumika > Misaki > Yuuna order. The reason for this is that while you technically can do the first two in either order, Misaki's route heavily spoils and solves Sumika route's main drama.

Also there's a short additional epilogue and additional vocal track if you finish all the routes.

The prologue is written by Ou Jackson and is by far the best part of the VN, the writing audibly thumps down several levels once the main game starts and it never recovers, so you basically have to pretend the prologue and the main game are completely separate entities. Why do people here hate Hoshi Ori and Ginharu? Matsuri is a decent way to play Higurashi. Most of the added stuff is only partly done by R07, if at all, so you wouldn't even need Matsuri.
The original is already complete enough.
If you really like the characters though, you can go for Matsuri and in extension Sui. Some of the stories are really bad in my opinion, so don't expect a lot.

Sky is one of my favorite games of all time alongside DMC and Ninja Gaiden because of its high speed melee combat and deep combo system thats only limit is your creativity. Bringer looks like a complete 180 from that.
The zoomed out camera combined with the ranged crowd control style combat makes it seem far less intense than Sky. The enemies don't look threatening, all of of the gameplay I've seen has the player walling them out using ranged aoe attacks without needing dashes for positioning or canceling moves to dodge enemy attacks. I'd like to see some high level gameplay of a boss battle or survival mode with some more moves and mechanics being shown off and be proven wrong, but as of now the combat looks like it would get stale and boring very quickly.
I haven't played Heart yet but I've seen a few cool combos from it so I could be wrong about the seemingly dull gameplay of Bringer.

Also different isn't necessarily bad. You definitely shouldn't compare a game you probably played way too much and love with some PV video of another game. Not even with your first 10 hours of that game. Or even 50. Because Baldr Sky is definitely not a game that's very accessible either. For example, if you are playing the game fairly casually, the Baldr equivalent of the Tales Iron Stance is going to make you do plenty of run and gunning, because melee is close to impossible. Can build the nicest combos, but if the enemy isn't staggering for a few hits, you get knocked out of it pretty fast.

You definitely need to play Heart. Its combat system is even more refined than Sky. There's a lot more to calculate when you create combos and the possibility for variety is also infinite.

Not him, but I dropped Zero because its gameplay seemed like shit from the trial and if I'm not understanding wrong Baldr Bringer looks kind of same with you being able to spam one move over and over again until full heat. The trailer also shows one melee attack with pause that's performed twice (and double subs + melee attack + double subs again), unlike Sky or Heart where you can only perform same move once per combo unless you use equalizer for two. When pretty much every single showcased move in the trailers is spam AoE weapon with "long animation" it's a bit telling. There's no showcased air moves or launcher either. Also lots of frame rate drops. It looks fucking horrible compared to Sky and Heart.

I do wish it'll be an improvement to Heart but I wouldn't keep my hopes up too high.
