Mai is my favorite, funny and charismatic, and her design is beautiful.
Satono is ok.
And Okina is the most interesting character of all HSiFS cast obviously, but her designs is pretty meh for me.

Already warmed up to Aunn from the very beginning but I was a bit skeptical on Okina but after awhile, I've completely warmed up to her and hoping that ZUN is setting something big up with her and Yukari soon that would maybe be in a new 2hu manga. I just find it pretty coincidental that Yukari had arrived at the very last chapters of FS and after it was done, Okina was then revealed to be another sage of Gensokyo and nearly everything about her is a nod to Yukari from her spellcards, design, having two servants and more importantly the theme.

Yes. At first I was misdirecting my anger, but now I'm mad at ZUN for making Okina's design too similar to Junko's and for giving her the two longest stages for whatever reason. Satono was a huge "meh" at the beginning but Mai would be nothing without her. I like this cast. Kind of disappointing that the "secret god's side" only has 3 people on it though. But I guess you should leave the big casts to games previous to DDC.

I don't really care for stage 1-3 (although Yamame is top cute), but Chireiden is my favourite Touhou faction. They all have some of the best character design the series have to offer, and offer great dynamics between them.
You have the dumb as a brick but lovable bird who holds too much power on her hand, the mischevious cat who cares deeply for her friends, and their mind reading master who is shunned for her ability but found a remedy to her loneliness through communicating through telepathy with her pets. They really give the feeling of a tightly knit family, with the dedicated pets loving their hated master.
On top of that you have the close to mentally retarded Koishi, who gave up her sanity on her own due to the hatred of the others, betraying her sister but it being understandle enough for Satori not to hate her for it.

It's the faction that seems the most interesting and lovable to me. A group of rejects who love each other.

Wrong, liked her from day 1 which by now turned into nothing but love for her. I think she's among the best final bosses in all of the series, her theme is among the best three and still have fun with her fight and when she shows up in the Extra to this day.
