Hollywood is kind of like an old housewife who's desperatly trying to relive her youth by putting on flashy clothes and better makeup but all that ends up happening is that she ends up looking desperate and even worse.

Ah fuck. Now if I go see this, tat'll be all I can think about as well. I'll be watching it... but secretly I'll keep thinking how awesome it would be if Ness appeared in the last minute and kicked some ass.

Thanks, you've ruined that film for me.

Though I will admit my expectations about were not especially high, I was kind of hoping that Hollywood had learnt to stop giving Keanu lead roles by now.
Also, I was beginning to believe that we were coming to the end of retro-remakes, I mean this year we've had Max Payne and that (so far) seemed to be it. No films about the A-Team, or a remake of Where Eagles Dare with the Nazi's replaced by terrorists and Clint's role badly acted out by Matt Damon, no big budget remakes of Blake 7, one awful Flash Gordon one, but that MUST have been cancelled by Fox by now.

The role is perfect for Keanu Reeves though. The character he's playing isn't supposed to show any emotion.

>> No.1744768

>>1744759

Exactly. While it's a sad fact that he'll probably never again get into a movie like the Bill & Ted ones, Keanu is the least thing that can go wrong with a movie like this.

Biological spaceships. Hello, 1995.
Huge spaceships covering cities. Hello, 1996.
Nanotechnology that works nothing like actual nanotechnology. Hello, 1997.
Spheres. Dustin Hoffman disaster.

I suppose that's true. I'm just hoping the curse of the Skywalker name holds true for Hayden Christensen. That guy was truly TERRIBLE.

Introduced as whiny kid on desert planet in first movie.
Loses hand in second movie.
Wears all black in third movie.

Yup, the omens are right.

By curse of the Skywalker name, I mean that NOBODY who ever plays a character with Skywalker as a surname EVER has a long and successful acting Career in Hollywood.

>> No.1744900

>>1744893

Exactly. What I mean is he's followed the pattern so far.

The curse of the Skywalker name doesn't spare anyone. It's so powerful that even if you already have a decent career, it is bound to end it. Any way possible.
Just look at Sebastian Shaw.

>> No.1744910

>>1744893

It still amuses me how Harrison Ford was the only actor in the old Star Wars films to be successful after the movie.

>> No.1744922

>>1744910

Oddly, though, seems Mark Hamill himself has been spared relatively well from the curse. He's been a decently successful voice actor from what I gather, which might actually be the best possible career for someone whose looks are forever equal with Luke Skywalker.

But... uh... how is this /jp/ related again?

>> No.1745019

I'd go watch this, but that would mean I'd have to leave my apartment. I haven't left in over two weeks now. And I don't have anyone to watch it with. I'd probably start breaking down while waiting in line for a ticket. I'll be imagining everyone laughing at me. And then when I can't take it anymore and run home, everyone will laugh at me.

Therefore, I'll just download a shitty cam or telesync when it comes out.

Or is that kind of the point?

That's why I made the caveat about Hollywood Career, last time I looked Mark did pretty well out of Wing Commander moving to FMV with actors.

Sebastian Shaw, the guy who played old Anakin in Return of the Jedi. Active for about 60 years, starred in 40+ movies.
Granted, he was nearly 80 at the time, so the curse didn't have to put in much effort.

>> No.1745510

>>1744759 The character he's playing isn't supposed to show any emotion

Well, if he does, it'd be curiosity, something that Keanu isn't too good at. Michael Rennie is still going to be the better Klaatu

>> No.1747037

>>1745454

Also the guy that got replaced in the OT remake by Hayden. Really a low blow Lucas to replace a dead actor so he won't complain.
