You can make certain weapons through skills like spears with carpentry. Sniper rifles are not craftable. >> No.17233740

I think about it this way.
10 little girls / (4 floors * 0.1 chance) = 25 dungeons you need on average to get a hero apple. Non-awakened dungeon you can breeze through shift-arrowing in a minute with pets, so that's one hero apple per half an hour if that's what you really want.
Why bother with tickets? I see it as a nice bonus on top of all the cool miracle/godly items that get thrown at you.

I'm a quickeling with 3life that needs to get two hands from gavela, so one cheese minimum, and i have a Karata pet that needs one hand and seven arms, so 8 cheeses or 9 total.
2 from quests, so still need 7.
And after the limb addition, we'd both be at 1 life, so i need a decent influx of cheese to fix that.

Do not save color space information, save your files as .bmp 24-bit R8G8B8, do not use interpolation when resizing images. It's helpful to use a select by color tool to replace colors, or you can shift image hue/saturation. This is shit. It's even reflected in enemies: predators are most dangerous enemy class, because they don't have weapons (-> use MA), have bonus to MA (-> more damage), and Eye of Mind (-> to fuck your shit up with crits), so they deal crapton more damage compared to enemies with weapons.

I can't remember at what point Preaching became completely safe for me, but I'm pretty sure even when I was around 40ish Faith with Unknown Shell I had to avoid Loyter, Vanity, and the seminar people. Fascination Dance was always completely safe even when I had barely 20 Charisma. Efficacy was variable (sometimes a dance would get literally 0 points even though everyone showed hearts, sometimes it would get double what I just got from preaching) but no one ever threw a rock at me. Sorry if this is a retarded question, I'm still learning the game:

Should I be worried about pumping non-combat skills too much? I play a lot of Elder scrolls, where you have similar skill training and enemy scaling systems. A common issue in those games is if you train your non-combat skills and start levelling up a lot, you'll start falling behind the pace of the world as stronger monsters appear and your combat skills are up to par. Is this A Thing in Elona?

>> No.17238423

>>17238413
Enemies don't scale based on your skills, you only encounter stronger enemies on average based on your fame which you can alter yourself.

Dungeons generated are still random even if fame raises their average danger level, and strength of enemies depends on the danger level of the dungeon so you can still just pick the easy ones if you'd like. Same with quests. Games with actual level scaling are shit

>> No.17238425

>>17238413
Level management used to be a thing before Elona+ but now it really doesn't matter at all since most things that matter scale to fame.
Just fail fetch quests occassionally to keep fame manageable and you don't need to train fighting much.
Honestly so long as you aren't intentionally gimping yourself even that doesn't matter.

Now that I have the Otogiri I need to settle on a main weapon. I've been dual wielding the Elemental Staff and the Staff of Insanity so far and lived with the penalty to casting chance. Magic is my primary method of dealing with hostile goons so something with enhanced spellls as a primary weapon would be ideal. I have some staff skill so I was thinking about the Vice Staff from Sophia, but I buggered the quest up for now and I have no idea at what day I'm supposed to talk to her. Another contender is the Scythe of Void. The mana absorption sounds really tempting and I have a few flying scrolls stored to reduce its weight. I could also grab it right now unlike the Vice Staff. The downside is my non-existent skill in scythes and the weaker enhanced spell attribute on it. The wildcard is the Elemental Staff from Itzpalt. I got it before static artifacts were nerfed (no more additional random attributes) and also got enhanced spells on it, but I don't know how big the bonus is. Is there a item I could use or a NPC who could tell me how big the actual bonus is, i.e. numbers and not #####?
Vice Staff, Scythe of Void or possibly the Elemental Staff. Any other contenders for a wizard who occasionally whacks some ponce on the head?

(+1200 to magic power and a lot of fluff) in ranged slot, random tonfa in second slot for 100% cast chance. I find anything less e.g. 92% failure is too shit vs. strong bosses where one mistake can mean party wipe.

Both staff artifacts dropped from void bosses. I stopped using the staff from the crypt boss and the elemental staff a while a go, they are just too weak for midgame IMO. Haven't gone far enough in the campaign to see Void staff, don't even know what it does because I hate spoilers.

The higher the potential the faster you gain attribute points, skills and spell levels.

Blessed potion of potentials are what you, me and everybody else needs. They raise the potential of your major attributes. One of the first major goals is getting a steady supply of them. Usually achieved by investing in magic vendors. I have three at my home. You can create them yourself with a sufficient alchemy skill, but the needed materials for those potions are not exactly common. You get the materials from gathering spots and from pets with utility and crafting skills like detection, mining, gardening, fishing, etc.
To raise the potential of skills you need to visit a trainer and pay them PP to raise the potential of skills.

Alright I think I found out what I was doing wrong. Apparently the milk I had in the prior version for some reason wasn't giving me bonus on my cheese. Also, the milk has to be squeezed from the creatures on the ranch to get bonus on the milk which in turn is inherited by the cheese. Can't use the normal milk you find around the ranch as time passes to get bonus to cheese.

Seems like cheese can sell pretty well to normal vendors. Will sell for more in pet run shops then. Pretty cool that the amount of gold you can rake in from a ranch is going up. Also liking that butter makes it easier to do more damage with fire spells.

Wonder if the cap for resists in the void is superb everything except for magic which is normal. Only thing that varies slightly is that some resists are a little bit bigger or smaller due to racial traits. It's been this way for several hundreds of floors now.

>>17240962
>Extra attacks from martial arts depend purely upon your skill level.

Is that how it works with mutants? My character isn't a mutant and just has 2 hand slots. From what I can tell the MA skill only effects damage dice and accuracy. Even at capped skill level I can't get more than one attack. Only way I can get additional attacks is through stacking equipment that have the additional attack chance enchant. So additional attacks is dependent on gear on at least a normal character. Found this to be true for dual wielding and two hand characters. Wonder if it's different for mutants.

>>17241062
Found that at least without Custom so far you can't give your pets cores and expect them to use it. You have to hold onto the cores yourself and tag the pet with it when they meet the requisites to change. There was an anon in the past that reported that with his mutant, with more than two hands, could not get more than 8 attacks when using martial arts. So 8 might be the cap regardless of how many hands you have. Really the mutant is quite the enigma or at least it is for me. Haven't really seen any mutants that got really far in the game myself. In theory though they can be strong.

Since some of them are fine with going over the 13 slot one can probably start stacking nefia cores that increase martial arts skill levels to up damage dice while not having to give up resists to do it. They can also equip more stuff to add to their to hit and damage bonus which are found on some gear. So in theory a mutant could be built to do more damage than a normal humanoid martial artist. Also with additional slots come more PV and DV possibilities. They'll have to keep an eye on their speed but shift cores, the speed buff spell, and a mount built to have 2000 speed along with the riding skill can help alleviate any speed problem they may have.

At any rate, the formula for additional attack chance is available on the wiki and you might want to check it out. Scroll down until you see it.

Yes, I've had nothing in my hand slots and couldn't get past 1 attack. I've had my MA skill capped for quite awhile now and have found that additional attacks for a default humanoid is completely based around gear. Not skill. This is true for MA, Two Hands, and Dual Wielding.

>>17241368
For anyone with just two hand slots at least, Tonfas and claws will reduce your max amount of attacks to 4 assuming you have gear to make additional attacks in the first place.

Our resident Kai was getting a whopping 8 attacks per round (>>17231061). I don't think he was getting that from gear alone.
Boy I wish Elona's documentation wasn't so nonexistent.

>the multihit (passive) ability for Martial Arts requires you to be completely unarmed (no tonfas or claws) as well as a high extra melee attack attribute (around 1000+). This allows one to reliably hit up to 8 times on an enemy in one turn.
So you DO need to have some bonus attacks equipment, but once you do you will consistently shell out the extra attacks.

Hehe, I am Kai and yes I'm saying you get 8 attacks from gear. All the MA skill is doing for me is determining damage dice, accuracy, and playing a small part in damage multiplier. The skill doesn't play a role in how many attacks I make. Only gear is allowing me to make multiple attacks each round. Apologies if there is any misconception about how multiple attacks work with MA, and for that matter dual wielding, and two hand, but hopefully this sets the record straight.

Left picture is of me throwing punches at a sandbagged enemy with all my equipment unequipped. The equipment I had on had additional attack chance. So in the left picture I don't have additional attack chance and I'm just throwing one punch at a time.

The right pic shows me equipping all of my stuff and procing additional attack chance. Shows up as futhermore you punch...etc

So if I'm understanding it seems like the solo Playstyles are sort of this way in terms of viability.

1. MA. Slow start due to the skill needed to be good and extra attack equipment. But once the ball is rolling blows everything else out of the water.
2. Mage damage. Relies on spell stock but that is negligible after a point and you debuffs and nuke everything into oblivion.
3. Dual wield. Takes extra attack and decent weapons, but can load up damage plus procs and destroy things.
4-6. Ranged firearm, ranged archer, 2 hand. Not sure where they stand. I know 2 hand gets a damage bonus and better accuracy, but special ammo does crazy things.
Last would be Magic Device/throwing weapons since I don't think I have ever heard someone even attempt to just use those.

Am I wrong or forgot anything?

Well I agree with the points you have to say about the various attack styles but I'm not sure how I'd rank things in terms of viability. They're all viable imo. Well almost all. I don't know about throwing yet.

I would definitely agree with the statement that MA eventually does the highest damage in the game. At least that's what I've seen with my character Kai so far and his pets.

Having said that, that doesn't mean or make any of the other combat styles less viable. I've seen dual wielding, firearm, magic, and two hand also kill the inner gods.

I would say magic is incredibly useful for solo play. You could get away without it but magic just makes the game so much easier. It provides healing, buffs, debuffs, utility, and gives you range and AOE options. A very good package rolled up in one. While I can say MA does a whole lot more damage than my spells the problem is that it can only do it on one enemy or only a handful of enemies using special actions. Casting on the otherhand can effect a lot of enemies with AOE or even the entire map with meteor. I'm pretty happy with my choice though to pair MA with casting for my character as the skills compliment each other. For bosses I can ruin their day with MA and for mobs I have spells. I can also attack at range with spells and simply melee when they get close enough.

Dual Wield is powerful for all the points you mentioned. Two hand is only capable of 4 attacks a turn however due to the fact that their weapons are usually large with big damage dice and that they get an additional damage multiplier with two hand they can still do pretty good damage.

Firearms and Bows with additional attack chance seem to be capped at 2 attacks per turn but their main power is from their special ammo. If a ranged user is not using special ammo they're not playing at their full potential. Rapid allows bow and firearm users up to 5 attacks and burst can get up to like 36 attacks in one turn. They can lay down some nice damage with special ammos but they need to eventually replenish their ammo at the blacksmith, possibly carry lots of ammo on them, or use that pot for fusion item that restores ammo in the field.

Magic Device, at least the ones that primarily play with rods, can do some nice damage if you make use of quick use since it allows you to use rods twice in one round. For them, an example of an ideal attack would be to make an opponent wet, and activate quick use to double tap lightning ball rods. They're not concerned about silence which is a good thing going for them.

Throwing can be viable but I think they need better and more throwing related weapons to get people excited about it. Maybe some good special actions too.

Do the special actions like shield parry help its damage out enough to make others take notice? It can maybe dim opponents at least.

>>17241734
Well you don't want to hear it but the void and awakened dungeons are the best place for AP. Both for the player and pets. Now that that's out of the way there are things you can do to build a lower powered pet to be able to do those places.

The first thing I would have your pet do is to gene engineer it levels and skills if you haven't already. Then the next thing you need to get your pet good gear. A decent amount of PV/DV but most importantly as much resist and immunities you can muster. Early on I did this by crafting armor using tailoring. I also had my blacksmith shop where I'd sell all the junk stuff I crafted for gold and trade ins. Some of those trade ins were actually pretty good so I'd equip my pets with trade ins. Also my pets would get hand me downs from my character. Any static artifact or item he wasn't using anymore would go to my pet.

Once your pet has some decent gear see if your pet can do panic or challege job board quests. These quests give lots of exp, can give AP, and are less stressful than the void and awakened dungeons. Make sure your pet delivers the final blow to get AP and exp. Ideally they'll solo these quests but if you need to tag your pet to yourself and kill the monsters. Your pet will get at least a little bit of AP hopefully.

You can try your luck with awakened and the void through tagging as well. You'll have to do all the killing and your pet will slowly get AP. Use that AP to increase your pets speed and use it on bonus points to up their damage skills. As you level up your pet and your pet's damage skills rise they'll be able to eventually hang out in the void with you without tagging.

That said I did give him a custom ai routine and that spell that boosts pv or dv.

Where's the black market guy at my peeps? How should I go about investing in him and my choice magic store as well as the skill itself. Also thinking of training negotiation as well and I'm wondering if training these will give me Charisma.

>An easy way to increase investing is to hire/fire cheap shopkeepers at your house and invest in them till shopkeeper rank 30-40. If you can't hire shopkeepers at your house, Food shop seems to be the cheapest to invest in.
What did they mean by this? I'm almost level 20 so I plan to buy a Juere Swordsman and use him as shopkeeper, possibly using Bronze Coins.

Black market is in Derphy, but I'd just get one in your home. Characters for hire change every few days.

Both will give you charisma, negotiation will train passively as you buy and sell, investing (of both you and your pets, who also help lower the cost) will train quite fast as you invest. I advise against hiring and firing shopkeepers, just invest in different shopkeepers around the towns.

In my experience it doesn't matter who you hire as a shopkeep because their CHA/Neg rise very quickly as long as you keep dropping by and training them.

Using the house board, you can hire NPCs to work at your house. That's also what the line you quoted referred to. The shops in your house are handy because you can teleport home with return at any time, you can get multiple of the same type, and they are transferred when you get a new home too. Multiple of the same shopkeep can be hired if you hire the first one, change their name, then hire them again.

The food shop that the quote said was easy to invest in means the inns in towns, which have the lowest cost. But I'd rather invest in something actually useful.

My food shop was pulling down 100-200k a night as soon as I opened it, with a fresh Juere swordman shopkeeper and a rank starting at I think around 72. A million a month seems absurdly low even if you're leaving it as a general shop. But you need to provide more information to properly diagnose the problem. How many customers are you getting? How many sales are you making? Is the shop bogged down with tons of trash that sells for very little? 1.68 or 1.69?

In any case I'd strongly recommend setting it to a specialized food shop if you haven't already. If you don't want to waste pet slots on multiple shops just switch specialties around as needed.

The profit margin from selling at your own store compared to normal vendor doesn't matter because the profit is tiny relative to the millions you'll be earning from specialist stores, while you're giving away a pet slot which could be used for running another specialist store if it's money that you want, or an extra little sister space or w/e that will probably give more value.

They do fine in the void and get AP, it's just kinda boring watching them kill while I watch so I was wondering if anyone else had a better way.

Is it safe to turn in a bunch of suitcases at once now or not? "This was reverted in early versions of Elona+" is unclear as to whether it was put back or not. I went though all the E+ changelogs, but couldn't find anything about the karma penalty being reinstated, or being removed for that matter. Up to you with what you want to do about their levels. You're just exchanging one kind of work for another is how I see it. You easily level up your pets through gene engineering but pay the price by putting in the work to get herbs and feed them to your pets. Or you do a lot of work in meticulously tracking down specific monsters in dungeons to level up your pets as slowly as possible to get the most attribute gains through gene engineering. Either way, you're putting in work and doing the time.

I've always leveled up my pets through gene engineering paying no mind to min maxing their attributes through slow slowly leveling them up. I was in and out of the slave trader's wares as fast as I could to get them started on farming AP and their diet.
