The number one demand for cars is for transporting shit these days, insurance and stuff is so expensive that it's completely infeasible for anyone but the mega-rich to own something like a sports car, even a 30 year old one. Costs even get higher the older a car is, so most cars older than 5 years are scrapped.

Every time I see one of these hideous box cars, I want to die.

Damn I didn't know that about the cars being so expensive.

What is this model called?

There are a bunch of different ones from the major manufacturers, and they all follow the same design philosophy. You see adverts for them all the time on JP TV, I never care enough to remember the names.

I like how he tried to suck up to this board at every given opportunity and everyone still hated him. Fucking faggot.

Also I wish there was a Japan general board, even at the expense of /jp/; christ knows you wouldn't be losing much.

tl;dr these boxy cars are called kei jidosha, which essentially means light car.

they all less expensive to insure, and the tax is cheaper. they get a special license plate too. in order to meet the requirements they can only have a certain engine size, like 600cc or something. and there is a maximum size.

people still drive regular cars though and you;ll see plenty. recently there has been talk of taking away the special tax break because its hurting domestic sales of regular cars.
