I got the impression Kanako didn't really act against Reimu in SA. Kanako's plan would have upset the balance in Gensokyo, but there wasn't any obvious malicious intent towards Reimu. Otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if Reimu had to go and sort them out again.

Rather, Reimu was used by Yukari to fix a problem between youkai. I wouldn't be surprised to see more of Kanako and Yukari's machinations against one another. Yukari doesn't like someone else trying to take her place as top youkai bitch.

I'm just sad that we will probably never see our two miko on the same team. ZUN almost seems to be setting up a Reimu/Yukari versus Sanae/Kanako thing.

Yeah, just noticed that now. Still, Kanako is setting herself up for a powerful place among youkai, which to be fair shouldn't be to surprising for a god trying to collect faith. It's only natural Yukari, a youkai that practically founded Gensokyo and holds a position as one of if not the most senior youkai in Gensokyo, wouldn't be too keen on Kanako's push for a technologically advanced set of youkai followers.

All that said though, are the kappa and tengu worshipping/following Kanako because they genuinely like her, or because she's strong as hell. The way Aya was talking about them it seems they are just working with her but don't really care for her. Would be amusing if it was a similar position to the way the Oni used to rule them.

Would be pretty neat if one of the future games had a plot that involved problems created by Yukari/Kanako plots clashing and ultimately came down to Reimu/Marisa/Sanae teams going out and fixing shit.

Reimu and Sanae obviously don't hold any hate towards one another. Sanae is nice enough and Reimu doesn't seem to treat her with the same distaste she shows anything which isn't human. There is probably a degree of professional respect involved, even if Reimu has to beat down to the temple from time to time.

I remember us having a bigass discussion about what constitutes a god in Gensokyo.

End result; Gods are NOT Youkai as they have a fundamental physical difference that is granted when one is ancient and powerful and has (most importantly) followers who give you Faith.

So Youkai can BECOME Gods, but Yukari doesn't exactly have shrines and people paying homage to her.

It's not that big a deal; Kami/youkai is just a label. If a supernatural being gets paid tribute by humans, then you can call it a kami. If a supernatural being starts being an asshole or a troublemaker to humans, then you can call it a youkai.

I used to think there was a big difference between the two, but then I remembered that ZUN's whole point of Touhou is to get people to appreciate/be interested in traditional Japanese folklore and such.

Sanae came back to the temple or was the only person left at the temple when the heroine came along to question Kanoko about the shit she started. After that they decide to play, can't remember if it's just because the heroine is feeling annoyed after dealing with everything or just for the hell of it, but it doesn't have much to do with Koishi.

Koishi is around because she's looking for one of the shrine maidens after hearing about them from her sister/sister's pets. Basically she wants to play. Sanae and Koishi aren't really related in any way, seems like a after thought extra boss with no real importance. At least the others made a bit more sense; being stopped by the OTHER little sister while snooping around, searching the shrine for the hidden power, GUTS TRIAL and fixing the great border. The only relevance TH11's had was asking Sanae about what Kanako is up to and learning a bit more about Satori's kind of youkai.
