Kigurumi (着ぐるみ) is a kind of costuming where the player wears a full body skin suit (called hadatai) along with an anime mask. The Japanese word "kigurumi" refers to any kind of full-body costume, but in this thread we're specifically looking for anime masks combined with skin-toned bodysuits - properly known as "animegao" kigurumi.

there was a bunch of drama a while back because they where effectively modelling themselves as an authority on kigurumi since at the time they where one of the only western makers (i say that, they lived in australia, so eh.)

People also didn't like the look of their masks more often than not because they where god damn huge so its become a bit of "tradition" to hate on them.

Precure stuff is very hard to Gif-ify, I will say. This did not come out how I would have liked it at all. Any more requests (Preferably a bit more specific because my computer can't handle another half hour of searching through 30 minute videos for good clips, regardless of how much I want to).

I have want one thing. Actually it's sorta an idea. I want Japanese do a dorama about a girl that wears kigurumi mask and suit fulltime and never shows her face and body under it. Third.. look I'm not gonna selfpost and out myself as a closet fan of this stuff. I could say that I've been cosplaying for over a decade, I'm currently working on my 4th cosplay from FF14, and I've also made like two dozen fursuits (Which is totally kigurumi by technicality cmon), but you didn't believe what I said before, so why would you now?
Could I afford a mask? Sure. But I'm not interested in doing the kawaii animu girl thing at all. If anything I'm thinking of trying to build a mask via pepakura of my 14 char's facial model so I can have accurate facial hair and markings without the hassle. Maybe custom dye a hadatai for skintone as well. Or something like Mei from Overwatch where I'd only need the mask and the costume hides my brick body type well. Even then I'd build my own, these pre-made anime styles don't really fit anything I'd want to do. Nukopan 4.8 comes close, but they seem a pain to order from and I'm not sure they even make that model anymore.
....but I digress.

I love that Y'shtola mask (minus the obvious) as much as I love her character, and I want them to do her justice. If they're not willing to make new ears and tail themselves, they can drop some contact info and I'll make a set for them, no joke.
