For some reason this was released today, thought it was only coming a week later.

Where are the usual Higurashi Voice mod anons?

But anyway, the only reason we used Github is because everyone who put some effort into making the patch already had a Github account. I'm more of a bitbucket man myself.

It's quite clearly pointless to do anything if he isn't here, that voice batch makes most of the work. the game came out one week earlier than expected, don't have much doubts he'll help.

MG probably pushed it out early because they realized the launch date ended up happening on the day the steam sales start.

The controversy over towel satoko is MG's last chance to get any kind of real word of mouth advertising over Higurashi, at least until the new chapters are translated. I wonder if they're going to take the opportunity to do it.

Also no one asked for it, but here's MG's original stance on the towel sprite for the first release 7 years ago now;

>> No.15422828

No one will, but you have two options to do that with minimal effort:

1. install the current graphics and voice patch and overwrite all the new sprites with the steam sprites. You'll still have a couple of exclusive PS3 sprites and CGs in your game. Also all PS3 backgrounds, I guess.

2. the same above, but you will have to replace exclusive sprites with empty PNGs.

Absolutely no one will do that since the patch is to add PS3 voices AND sprites.

Ask Doddler for a keyboard/menu shortcut that reads sprites and scripts from a new folder and I'll gladly start supporting voice patches for new/old sprites. Otherwise, we can't have all the PS3 content without crashing the vanilla game.

I think I still have it somewhere if anyone wants to rip its assets.

I was sure it had been ripped already though. What's this then?

Yeah, but we can't reuse the previous script. The game is also heavily edited (in a good way), so it's almost impossible to automate the process.

I still don't see anything related to the engine itself that would make graphics/voice replacement a difficult task.
Once the engine-irrelevant part of matching new file names to old file names is done, new files are converted into the format the target engine supports, packed into an appropriate container and dropped into the game's dir overwriting official files.
Yeah, it's not a one-click process (anymore, if you already have a script doing that for another engine), but I wouldn't go as far as calling it a pain in the ass, let alone calling [[P]O]NScripter a shit engine for this. There are existing tools to work with all needed files, file formats are documented, it's just a matter of combining it all together.
