I was waiting for a thread like this to show up.
I remember seeing years ago a guy who took very nice photographs about /jp/. One had /jp/ open on a laptop screen and had a cat next to it and another was a cup of tea with /jp/ being reflected on the tea. I've tried looking for them on the archive but I don't really know what to search for. Does anyone have them? And sorry for the request

Cirno is an ice fairy. Fire melts ice. Fire dog in close proximity to ice fairy melts ice fairy. Melting fairy causes pool of water. Firey dog falls into pool of ice fairy water. Firey dog is then put out, and ice fairy is kill.

Now that you have been empowered with this knowledge, feel free to reread the joke and be stricken with clarity.

If your Cirno is melting, then it's because she's from one of the faulty batches that forgot to add the non-water non-magic bits to the mix; proper Cirnos should stay solid up to any temperature bellow the melting point of standard flesh.

The very thought of spending even another second here is an insult to all sentient life that has ever or will ever come to be. As I type this my fingers burn as if Satan's pitchfork is prodding me with each keystroke.
The only explanation is that I have died and in life I was the greatest war criminal humanity had ever produced and this is the punishment for my many brutal transgressions. Honestly its really not as grand as everybody makes it out to be.

Starting out was great, had that "hey its a new board everybody go fuck around" feel for a while 2hu was everywhere, type-moon was everywhere, umineko came later but it was fucking everywhere, muv luv, basically a considerable portion of VNs and people eager to make fun things about those VNs even if much of it was ported from /a/ presplit.

Then waaaaves and waaaaaves of spam sitewide.

Then giga puddi caused a complete board wipe.

No moderation for like two years sent shitposting into an uncontrollable mess, by the end of this at least 90% of the userbase fucked off due to spam.
Only endless 2hu, idolfags, and kigurumi survived basically. Any other threads sheltered up in generals.

Iron fisted moderation came afterwards, exacerbating the problem further but finally got things under control.

All that's left is a husk of about 5% the original willpower to do things, 2hu threads, and the remaining generals who refuse to come out and make their own threads. The only "Good old days" are before 2011.

Your comments are just weird to me because of /jp/'s very origin.
/jp/ is perhaps the most serious and mature it has ever been right now. I wasn't here for its first few years but from what I've seen in pictures and stories I don't exactly picture a room of immaculately-dressed intellectuals discussing the post-scarcity economic theories.
Modern /jp/ isn't for everyone and truthfully /jp/ probably has the highest amount of spin-offs per-capita of any board. But, if you take away low effort 2hu shitposting then /jp/'s very soul is lost. And that IS what the spin-offs mostly are.

Back in the old days /jp/'s Touhou threads actually used to be a lot more meme-friendly. Some were cribbed from the Japanese, some were Western Touhou fandom originals, and a bunch of them were borned and spammed right here in /jp/. People were younger and dumber and didn't all have sticks up there asses back then.

Also, more tripfags, more memes, more derails, more autistic arguments about random things. Back then hikikomori culture was alive and well in /jp/, too. The repetitive 2hu posts were always there, it just also had a lot more repetitive posts about things that weren't 2hu.

>>15363339
Wow, this is basically the history as I would have told it. Which should not be so exceptional, but usually when I see someone recount the history of /jp/ there's usually one or two things that are blatantly just wrong.

I feel like one of the things I remember from the supposed "good old days" was they were full of people obsessed keeping /jp/ a "quality board" through posting measures and an overwhelming feeling of superiority towards other boards, copypasta and White Rens and stuff. People really cared a lot back then.
