I've developed a really unhealthy attachment to some fictional characters and it ended up really messy when the creator or fanbase intentions didn't agree with my own feelings about them, so I sort of circumvented the trouble by creating my own little universe where I can feel attached to the characters without fear of seeing bad stuff happen to them.

I like the vibe. Feels a little like a mix of an RPGs battle theme and a joyous, gag/prankster-kind of theme song.

Since I'm in a bit of an artistic slump right now and can't really get into writing own songs, I tried my hands on a videogame cover.

Buildings are easy to draw because they're literally 99% straight lines, especially if you cheat like I do and use some inspiration.
If you understand perspective for straight lines, it takes out almost all of the artistic talent and replaces it with simple mathematics.

No worries, I'm aware that my lack of motivation to practice shows itself in my pictures. That pencil drawing is relatively old and I mainly just draw in photoshop these days if I ever actually do something, although I've yet to reach a stage where I don't just blatantly copy another artstyle.
I gave coloring part of that drawing a try a while ago which also allowed me to fix alot of face issues with the photoshop lasso tool, although I gave up halfway through when I realized her shoulder felt all wonky and also because I couldn't figure out how to shade clothes properly.

I always thought most people understood that the artists drawing those were drawing stick figures by choice, not lack of ability. The lines are too clean and deliberate, they're not total amateurs. I mean, you can see in the first panel that the artist of that comic has SOME idea of how to draw a human body, even satirically. Guys like 3-angled-blue(who drew most of the popular stick figure comics that get reposted) absolutely know how to draw whatever the hell they want--they just choose to express humor through stick figures.

Hey /jp/! I'm not dead! (anymore)

If you don't recognize it from the changed graphics (compared to older stuff), it's the loli kidnapping/rape simulator!

Now you can even throw things to distract lolis!

I was thinking about having them pick up the item if it interests them, so I'd also want to overhaul their preferences data to figure out what they like/don't like. So far they just have a favourite colour (well actually a 0-1 scalar for each colour) and a favourite flavour-profile (I just treated sweet, sour, salty, bitter umami and spicy as a vectorspace and was planning on also maybe making a least-favourite flavour profile, then you could create a line through the space and project all other food-flavour-vectors onto that line to figure out how much the loli will like it, basing it as 1.0 for the favourite and 0 or -1.0 for the least one.

Although the problem with that is that lolis don't just like one thing, they might like sweet and they might like umami(savoury), but they might not like both combined as much as on their own...

Should I have multiple preference-points inside of the space with attached scalars to each representing the intensity of the preference, then compare a food's vector with every known point and add it's scalar multiplied by some distance-cutoff function (probably just a linear function would work best?) and then added together to form their opinion on it?

Spanish genes are put under the Mediterranean gene pool. The gene pools aren't visible to users of the game anyway. Native Americans are kind of obscure IMO and i don't think many people would care about them, wheras hispanics with mixed European/native genes have many millions of people in the world representing the core demographics of multiple countries, so I many players would expect to see such lolis compared to natives. If I have time later I could always add more, although adding more skin tones would involve reworking the skin-tone genes.

>>15101590

It's pretty simple, really. I just use a bitset and then bitwise OR the mother's and father's contributions to your DNA to get the expressed DNA, since 0's correspond to the recessive allele and the 1's correspond to having the dominant one. It's a very oversimplified system though since I only have like 20-30 genes, whereas there are many millions in an actual genes in human DNA with very complicated interactions involving multiple of them.

There you are... not afraid of Hiroyuki anymore?

Not sure how complicated it is to plot, but you could turn preferences into a 3D solid. Then plot a 3D solid for the food being offered and test how much of the food solid is inside the girl's preferences solid.

The higher the % of it inside the preference zone, the better. If you really want to go the extra mile, the closer the solid is to the highest border (as opposed to the "mininum preference" border), the better. A check is needed to know whether the highes border is -1 or 1, since there are 6 axis.

Normal people would simply give each girl a favorite food (or a set of them) and put available in the stores, you know...

I don't know what you work with, but you could really be improving humanity with this kind of analytical data. Research on human senses are a joke compared to what could be done.

What I meant on the fundamentals is your forms don't have enough refinement to indicate anatomy. Calves are thick/straight, toes are a mess, knees are hanging on the borders. I don't intend to sound /ic/ here, but Loomis.

As for volumetry, forgive me, I've been studying in three different languages. I mean volumes, shading, tridimensionality, just as >>15107787 said. As is, you're basically filling the borders with darker colors and the middle with lighter ones.

And that's why I think you're struggling with the face - even if you know how to DRAW them, you might not be able to SHADE them, since you don't (seem to) have enough experience with indicating forms through values.

Thanks for the feedback, yo. When you say more predictable, you mean those two parts where I suddenly do a lot of quick notes in succession? Didn't think much about it, but I see how it could affect the catchiness of the song.

A while ago, I played Asura's Wrath on the PS3. Loved the hell out the game and its story. Being a 2hu fan I tried coming up with a fanfic that merged the two series together.

Obviously, it didn't work. But I still liked the idea, and began to formulate a new, original story that was inspired by both Touhou and Asura's Wrath. Over time, it has taken a lot of inspiration from shounen manga, especially Dragon Ball Z. Oh, and some Exalted influence as well.

As of now, it's a shounen fighting comic, as I'm a sucker for badass fights and overpowered chuuni characters beating the crap out of each other. However, the Touhou influence means that basically every member of the cast is a girl in a weird dress. It still retains the over-the-top-ness I want though--characters regularly punch each other through mountains, throw off energy attacks that create massive explosions visible from space, and all that cheesy chuuni bullshit. That's all the DBZ influence--hell, this thing has fusions and transformation power-ups too.

The setting is this Science Fantasy thing that's basically a hi-tech futuristic society--with the aesthetics and feel of Feudal Japan and Ancient China. Pagoda-skyscrapers, terracotta robot-soldiers, laser blasters that look like Chinese crossbows, fleets of battleships named after Japanese gods, all that good stuff. Think how Asura's Wrath did their whole "Hindu/Buddhist-tech" thing and replace the Indian flair for East Asian flair.

I want to draw this thing years down the line when I have decent art skills. I'll put it online and treat it like an actual serialized manga, updating with a new chapter either every week or month.

Right now it's actually TOO "Touhou Ball Z". The characters are all rip-off 2hus, I need to make them more interesting and unique; the MC's have this really bad, they are too way much like Reimu and Marisa in design though their personalities differ a lot (unfortunately, I really like their designs...) and the DBZ elements like transformations and fusions are too blatantly copied. But I have years to work on this and plan out the plot before I work on it.

The solid thing sounds like it might just add complexity (unless shapes are assumed n-d boxes instead of arbitrary (convex?) shapes) while accomplishing less, besides giving ranges. The ranges seem like they could just be implemented by the distance cutoff function though which would make a lot of things easier (ie allowing non-uniform preference-density in the areas without necessitating the evaluation of a sextuple integral, although I guess if the functions are simple that would be easy)

Or maybe I'm misunderstanding something.

Can girls in Pretty Cure blow up planets? I mean, I don't get quite as ridiculous as DBZ--blowing up a planet is pretty much the most destructive thing someone can do--but some of the cast can do it in this story.

Christ, even the fucking Fairy at the end can cause some serious geographical damage.

Funnily enough I find myself reducing the powerlevels as time goes by, as cranking up things to that level kind of fucks up everything. It's hard to write a coherent story when half the cast, including the fairy, the mouse youkai, and the two moonbunnies, are throwing around planet-busting attacks every fight. I had to create an entire separate dimension chock-full of planets just so the heroines and villains could fight later on without inadvertently fucking up the Earth (not actually the earth, but its name isn't final) and accidentally murdering billions of people.

It's also really hard to have 2hu's "everyone is friends after the battle and has tea" atmosphere work with a bunch of overpowered girls blowing holes in continents.

Yeah, I can't quite seem to make the drums and synths pop out properly. With the drums, I tried lowering the dB of the guitars, but I can't quite figure out the proper volume without making the guitar too silent.
On the other hand, I relieved the synths of some high frequencies. Adding them back might hurt your ears, letting them out makes them less prominent.
But hey, I'm learning by the day, so I hope to figure that ou sooner or later.

Consider making her torso a tiny bit longer. I get the style, but her nipple bandages look strange being that high up. If they were pushed down a bit and the rest of her torso with it, it wouldn't look as strange.

Maybe change her Miku shoes too. Like into laced up type boots.

Her arms could use something too, maybe like being one of those kinds of gloves that just end in a ring around the middle finger. Maybe stockings like has been said already would match the gloves as they are now better. Depends if they're leather or cloth.

Consider making a sample sketch of her with her wings near her waist instead foo. I think her kind of style may benefit from that placement.

I suck at mixing, but have you tried meddling with side-chain compression? It could do the trick.
You could also try panning/delaying/chorus-ing certain layers. By giving the flute (or the guitar) a widened distribution, it dodges stuff that's in the center and sounds on its own.
Theoretically, that is. I personally always do goofed when trying.

And thanks for the feedback as well. Yeah, the thing is pretty repetitive, tried to make a loop in the molds of Gameboy stuff, but maybe went too short. There are 50 seconds masterpieces floating around:

You nailed it, honestly. After drawing a circle inside two lines for the five-hundredth time it becomes REALLY hard to retain a positive outlook.

>but also make one authoral drawing whenever you can.

But my skill is nonexistent. I have no sense of perspective, I can't scale things correctly, I can't even sketch things in front of me without fucking literally everything up.

Well, you need to remove the "nearly". You gotta sit down and exercise every single day. An hour of time is a good starting point, but breaking the circle is a problem.
You have to do it every day, at least, especially when starting out. And you'll be starting out for a whole year at least.

If it frustrates you or drives you crazy; so in the end doesn't let you have fun, I don't know if drawing is the right thing for you, to be honest. You've got to have fun doing it.

I do really want to have fun, but grinding out mechanical skill isn't very fun. I just really want to get past that phase so I can actually have fun drawing stuff.

Like, I'm a car guy, and driving manual can be a ton of fun. But learning how to drive manual can be an absolute nightmare. You've just got to do it so you can actually start enjoying the hobby. I hope that makes sense.

Even if you can't draw, you should.

Pic related is, on the left, the first drawing I've ever felt proud of (2006).

All the others are from 2009. I felt pretty proud about that Grim Reaper, and the chibi one isn't that bad either - even today I'd say it's got some cuteness appeal. But the baseball guy and the pigtail girl are uber shit.

Even so, they are still better than the 2006 drawing, even though I didn't know what I was doing back then. So just by trial an error, some skill is developed - by training your perspective and line control, you speed up that evolution.

Why am I showing you these? You don't know what you're capable of until you start to have some output.to judge. You won't have any fun either. I really enjoyed making that Grim Reaper.

And you will never be able to draw everything you envision, this is the curse of virtually every artist. The itch that won't let you stop despising your work is the same one that will give you the urge to keep improving.

You can either start to scratch or live with it.

Now, this is no motivational thread, start posting some stuff and we'll figure it out.
I've seen really bad shit in my life, there is nothing to be ashamed about - except for one thing: not contributing to the OC thread with OC.

It's a game where you kidnap little girls and keep them in your basement dungeon and have sex with them. There's a crime system, random city gen/family gen(with genetics system so kids are actually the genetic product of their parents, and you can impregnate girls you kidnap if they're past ~12yo (plus or minus some variance, basically when they reach menarche)). The lolis go about a daily schedule (sleep -> wake up and walk to school -> play in a park at like 2:30 -> go home after a few hours of wandering the park and repeat).

Here's a pic of the dungeon expansion thing. I'm currently recoding it to use the new graphics since the new graphics moved tiles from 32x32 to 16x16 which made me switch how walls worked, since before 1 tile (32) was simply way too wide so instead I had an additional bitmask-implemented system for which of the 4 walls were around each tile, but now tiles will have an entire cell for walls, plus now I'm gonna actually have the dungeon be able to be saved instead of how ti was before, and hopefully interface with the editor stuff I used for house interiors (before they were just hardcoded).

Not even mangaka who draw make clothes look so bland like you do, make some effort to make the clothes look semi realistic. Her bandages have too many unnecessary lines. Even Guts bandages don't look like that.

What's going on with her posture? She looks like one of those girls who always purposely sticks their ass out and then have spinal problems later in life.

That kid in the picture up on the right what's going on with her hair? You should look up proper reference pictures for something like that and even if the characters hair is supposed to look wavy/curly it would not look like that mess you've got going on on top of that girl's head.

The Penanggalan or 'Hantu Penanggal' is a ghost of Southeast Asian folk mythology. It is a variation of the vampire myth found in the Malay Peninsula, or as Balan-balan in Sabah. It is similar to the Manananggal, a similar creature of Filipino folklore. "Penanggal" or "Penanggalan" literally means "detach" or "remove". Both terms—Manananggal and Penanggal—may carry the same meaning due to both languages being grouped or having a common root under the Austronesian language family, though the two creatures are culturally distinct in appearance and behavior.

Hair doesn't work like that. And even if you were going for some weird poofy style that sticks out 8 inches from the back then you have to draw it in a way that even people who "can't draw worth a damn" can tell that's what it is without mistaking it for something else.
Being unable to depict something for what it is is an absolute novice mistake.

Just some color protips, you should either keep it iconic or go for the ambiance you were doing. Your colors are kinda going nowhere.
Also the background is too dark - even for a pure black one, a lighter gray would be better, just look at the knee joints for a good measure.

Doing something like this everyday seems like a really good idea, it's a fairly complete piece.

I really like the edit with the blue ambient light you made! I was going for that in my picture but I just realized that the blue hue I put in my picture is so scarce that it's pretty much imperceptible. I'll keep your tips in mind.

Thanks for the feedback, friends!

So what the fuck is wrong with you people putting on a fucking hateshow with OP?
It's not like I enjoy his stuff extraordinarily much - though I think there is a lot of talent and character found - but he posts like every other user, does he not?
He posts his stuff, ready for critique, replies like any other artist and isn't butthurt if people point out flaws, but you guys act like he's a tumor. Why's that? He's just a normal dude with a chunk more skill than average. So why? Are you jealous, are you trolling, are you just plain idiotic? What's the reasoning, man.

Are those polished turds supposed to be impressive? Can you not see the blatant hand hiding? Embarrassing. He (you?) has no idea how to draw clothes on a body, as always. Skin tone choice on the left is sickly and gross. Generic, stiff poses. Not pleasant to look at, that seems to be his (your?) theme.
If he spent half the time studying the basics he spends making it looks like the character has had a bucket of oil dumped on their head his drawings would be lot easier on the eyes by now.
You realize shit smeared across a larger canvas is still shit, right?

Theres a saying that goes something like "when everyone enters art school they find a class full of people practicing their signatures"

Basically means that focusing on your signature, or recognition and fame at the the early stages of learning is useless, focus on the fundamentals, on the actual drawing and making what you draw look decent before ever worrying about your signature. Because nobody will give a shit what artist drew the drawing when the drawing itself is garbage.

For me, I take the japanese approach, I never put a name on my artwork, I like my style be my identifier, and it works! You can become popular without having to write your name all over your work, and believe me you will be thanking yourself 10 years from now when youre glad you didnt sign all your shitty amateur drawings.

Man, you guys that can do full pictures and speedpaints every day are awesome. I was trying to follow the advice of the two previous anons and set up a scene with just one light source, but I think I may be over-ambitious for my level, because even this, which I would consider pretty simple, took me a bunch of days to draw and I'm pretty sure I got a bunch of things wrong with it too.

I'll probably color just the lady on this one, but do you guys have a system to keep it simple when you're starting a new drawing so you can actually finish, at least the lineart, within a day or so? Or does all the speed come from experience? And whatever feedback so far is more than welcome, of course.
