Her musings on this is about putting in manual effort for something that could already be done more easily with less effort. Forgot to mention that the whole point of this part is a ~ZUN social commentary~ on how people nowadays are also falling into that mindset of rigid efficiency over fun and interesting.

And really, this shows exactly why he would write a long series of events revolving around assembling a rocket and flying to the moon, rather than just writing in Yukari gapping everyone to the moon. One is boring and obvious; the other is what makes Touhou what it is.

I've been reading too much fanfiction. I was somehow under the impression it was made by Yukari after Reimus mom died. So Reimu had a better chance of fighting all the monsters that would enter Gensokyo.

If Reimu is unprepared Sakuya can kill her, Yukari can kill her, anyone can kill her. You can say what you want about her powers, but she doesnt have them active all the time, she's not unbeatable.
Sakuya only needds to wander around when time is frozen and cut her head off, or jam several knives into her skull.
Yukari is known for taking her by suprise, stealing food from her. Like I said, it's whoever attacks first before the others defend themselves.
