Hopefully you can help me here....
See, in my college there's a certain person I want to talk to and get to know. The only problem is... she's asian. I don't know whether she's japanese, chinese, or korean.

See, I see this person almost every other day (coincidence we almost have the same class schedule). I want to go say hello. How would I approach her?

short version, how would I approach an asian transfer student in college?

"Oh hai" IN ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKER. Simple as that. Try to find some common ground and strike up a conversation about that. Repeat as desired.

You're asking the wrong board, buddy.
Try /r9k/ or something.

I hear most cultures would accept a greeting as a gesture to open up a conversation. Try to look her in the eye, and smile. If not, look at her chin and smile. If you find yourself looking elsewhere and smiling, hope to God she doesn't realize where you're staring.

Fun fact: outsiders always begin their posts with "Sup/hey /jp/" or simply "/jp/" like what the OP has done.

Fun fact: I start some of my threads like that and I've been here since the board started.
