You won't find anyone like that here, people who are actually in love with a character are mentally underdeveloped and incapable of proper communication. Maybe if you dig really deep you may find one or two delusional faggots in /a/, though.

But I can tell you how it feels, because I loved a 2D girl when I was a kid - you feel the same love as you would feel for a person, a mix of joy of thinking about you being together and pain for not being together. Add to the mix the fact that the character doesn't exist and the yearning hits you tenfold. It's basically "Why can't she exist? Life is not fair!"

This feeling can be carried across adulthood, everyone has their madonnas and can long for the ideal pair, but the whole waifu thing is just a meme for 99,9% of the cases, being all the real cases clinical.
