I just came back from my Japanese class (where I was mysteriously promoted to the next level w00t!), and I swear, anime does things to Japanese. Unspeakable bad things.

Now, how not to be a rude weeaboo.

Everyone loves Kamina. He’s manly. His gruff, GAR utterances will send girls (bikini-clad usually) to their knees.

But you do not use Kamina-speak towards your teacher. Never use overtly manly casual slang when speaking to your teacher. It’s fucking rude, and proclaims loudly to the class that you’re a weeaboo. A very stupid weeaboo who doesn’t know when to be fucking polite.

So anyway, this classmate of mine had to leave class early and when he left he got up (after hurriedly packing his things and ignoring sensei’s repeated hints for him to be polite and excuse himself) and said in a HELLO-I-AM-SO-PROUD-OF-MYSELF-I-AM-GAR tone: “さらば！” and left the class.

Cue shocked class (half who couldn’t understand him, and the other half who could understand him) and a very amused and shocked sensei. My Japanese teacher’s one of the coolest around and she yelled “COME BACK” and made him excuse himself politely. Dude, Anime does not teach you accurate Japanese if you don’t use your brain.

After he had left, we were left to gather our shell-shocked minds - I was like “omg 失礼ですよね、先生。” and she started laughing.
