I wasn't interested in Touhous 12 and 13 because I don't really care about religion and after that I basically just lost interest in the series.

The games are alright, albeit a little short even after you've completed the higher difficulties. I like it more for the music though.

I don't care too much about the story specifics, but I play the 2hu shooting games a lot, and think the characters are cute.

If thats the case, play through UFO and TD on normal as quick as possible, and move on to the newer games.

Sure, the religion ark isn't one of the most interesting for most people, but it is still interesting due to the characters themselves.

The story specifics can largely be summed up as "Various japanese mythologies fucking shit up in a pocket dimension", so thats fine.

I think the characters are cute

I just started playing it. I barely scrape by Cirno in EoSD on hard

After seeing stuff about it for so long and trying to ignore it, I decided to try playing the games so I wouldn't be a filthy secondary, but couldn't beat EoSD so I quit.
I don't know much about any character not from that game, so a lot is lost on me regarding 2hus.

I like the 2hu bossa nova albums though.
