Austronesian is a language family. What you are thinking of is the Australoid race. That aside, have you actually looked at an Okinawan? The western Pacific islands, SE Asia, and much of Malaya and Indonesia are populated be people with very obvious Mongoloid features. The darker skin tones and other features common to these southern populations can be explained either by a significant amount of Australoid admixture due to migrations, or to a theoretical division in the Mongoloid race between "Paleo-Mongoloids" who lack cold weather adaptations such as fairer skin, and "Neo-Mongoloids" such as Chinese and Japanese who do have these features. You can often see some very isolated tribal groups in the area that exhibit stronger Australoid features, but on the whole the average SE Asian, west Pacific Islander, Malay, etc, is for the most part of the Mongoloid race.
