I know this talk is getting old, but is fact that ZUN really drew better back then, the lines, the coloring, you really could think that he would have improved in some time... But 9 years after EoSD, He draws Miko with swapped hands. This is too much for me.
Humans are well known for learn from their mistakes, but ZUN is not human anyways.

You are right, the portraits for Marisa and Reimu in EoSD are the best only second to UFO. Now he draws all the girls with really weird faces and extremely pale skin.
Also, old ZUN art has some kind of unsettling feeling, like the image you posted, is obviously badly drawn but at the same time it has a "weird" and "magic" feeling to it. Pretty charming.

I completely agree. I wouldn't want ZUN's style to change any more than I would want him to license 90's metal for the next games' music. Silly art is part of the whole that is Touhou, and I like it.

I think ZUN thinks so too. He certainly could have changed styles, or he could have hired artists to do all art for him (instead of only on some projects), but he doesn't. He must be content with how his art is turning out. I hope it's because he's personally satisfied, rather than because he's appeasing fans like me.
