What do you guys think about Higanbana? Personally, it felt like Ryukishi07 didn't know the subject at hand or he very poorly researched it. The stories were either meh or average at best, with the first three in the first night being the only good ones. That said, I just finished reading the first night, so what does the second night lie in store for me? I've heard it's not as good.

Also, attempted rape much in the final chapter. All boys try to strip our MC and nobody does a thing. Not even teachers walking by notice or anyone hearing the racket from outside the class. Felt like something straight from a hentai if you ask me. Furthermore, it doesn't even mention anything about what happens to the bullies after they do that. Poor writing or just genius? I mean, you'd get expelled after trying something like that. Even worse, the VN itself only states that a teacher helps her to the infirmary, not WTF you're half naked who did this?

>Personally, it felt like Ryukishi07 didn't know the subject at hand or he very poorly researched it.
Personally, as a victim of harassment at school and having gone through some of the situations described, it's totally the opposite. It's incredibly on point on all the psychological parts of it, in fact he was either a victim too or he is a genius. I can relate to a lot of stuff in it. The actual physical details don't matter much, and you wouldn't believe what people get out with in real life.

It's true. Hundreds of bullying cases happen every day, ranging from minuscule incidents to some stories you'll find hard to wrap your head around. But remember, there are only stories because they've came to light. If no one finds out about them, the incident lives on as a untold story, and the bullies get away scot free.

And as to why the teacher probably didn't asked Yukari why she was half naked. In reality, there are schools, along with the teachers, who'll turn a blind eye and won't acknowledge bullying because they think it'll make the school look bad. Nowadays, this doesn't happen as much but back in the day, before the anti-bullying movement, it happened quite a lot. Even my past bullying experience fall in this category.

Much more intense and much more of an issue. There are posters about preventing bullying up around all the schools and schools have to start up anti-bullying initiatives because it's a big problem. I didn't witness bullying happen to a kid while I worked at a school myself, but I've read novels (not light novels, real ones) that depict bullying in essentially the same way Ryukishi does. Right down to boys stripping a girl together and feeling her up.

You can't have seriously come out of the shinigami story and thought ' Damn, that was pretty stupid. Real children won't get chased by one of those things, so Ryukishi has just wasted everyone's time and not offered a genuine solution to the problem.'

The manga has its ups and downs. It's really dark, rarely glimmer of happiness like what you'd see in previous 07th Expansion manga adaptations. I personally prefer the VN. Anyhow, Ichirō Tsunohazu, the manga artist, passed back in November, 2013. So, technically, the manga unfinished or on hold, I guess. As for the manga not being fully translated, no one seems interested enough to translate the rest of the released chapters.

R07 has previously stated that he was very pleasantly surprised with the sales.
And at one of the cons MG took him to a relevant question was asked to him:
Q: Is it possible that he’ll make a continuation of Higanbana no Saku Yoru Ni, or does he consider the story finished?
A: First of all, he said he was glad that someone in Chicago had been able to read and enjoy Higanbana. He has a lot more ideas to work on the series, and he’d love to continue it or write a similar work.
