http://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-echochambers-30859967

" Earlier this month we covered the revelation that Ted Turner, founder of the news channel CNN, ordered a sign-off video ready to air in case the apocalypse were nigh.

His pick? Rather pedestrian footage of a US Army band playing Nearer My God to Thee.

Convinced there were better choices out there, we asked readers what they would select as a farewell song for the BBC, which (as far as we know) doesn't have anything cued up in case of imminent doomsday. "

[...]

" Despite being an American band, REM gets several plugs with It's the End of the World as We Know It (and I Feel Fine). The very British group Queen gets Ran Yakumo's nod with their Don't Stop Me Now. "A proper send-off for an Earth that wasn't ready for the end." "

So, /jp/'s favorite shikigami, kyūbi no kitsune, and computer daemon analogy Ran Yakumo/Yakumo Ran has written to the BBC revealing her appreciation for the band Queen. How do you feel about this?

holy shit, it's actually there. Is this a joke or what?

It seems to me that the British media gets unnecessarily excited whenever someone makes a token appreciation of their waning pop culture, in fact I think that the feeling that UK's time is over plays a role in this behavior. Is it just my impressiion?

It's a reader write in, and we all know how little background checking news corporations do. Their focus is on generating lots of content, quickly.

It's the new frontier of RP

Ran struck me more as the sort of girl who listens to electro-pop to feel young and hip. Definitely not Queen.

Hope she got permission from Yukari first.

Or else she won't be out in public for a few weeks.

I like how nobody in the comments asks who the hell is Ran.

Though there are many deleted comments, is Yukari behind this?

>> No.12928536

I bet Yukari was once Freddie Mercery's old flame and inspired him to write Killer Queen!

Maybe Yukari keep his record around the house and that's how Ran became a fan!

>> No.12928549

Reminds me of how someone used to request takedowns on youtube and claim the copyright holder as Yukari.

Given that many youkai can live to be several hundred, anything newer than the Everly Brothers probably is "young and hip."

Well, I meant hip with the current generation. I bet Yukari tells her all sorts of things.

From what I gather in one story Yukari revealed she has a ipod so she is probably actually quite good at keeping up to date.

if gensokyo is running parallel to Maribel's world and that one is set slightly into the future, wouldn't an ipod be retro-tech?
then again if gensokyo is a place where forgotten things go, maybe its appropriate that, she'd have one, don't ask me how she charges it though.

It's not, Gensokyo is running parallel to our current time.

No, but I'd recommend reading the article if you think that's what it's actually about.

>>12928443
You're not wrong, but the BBC does actually print handles/pseudonyms anyway.
