A lot of others didn't understanded story and was sure, that 8ep will have mindfucking plot twists and answers for everything, even when ep7 already solved whole mystery... but if they couldn't see that, they were destined already to be pissed of with 8ep.

I picked this manga up at a very otaku store in my city, though I was really looking for volumes 1-3 of Higurashi. The owner of the store told me that they were constantly sold out of volumes 1-3 of Higurashi and maybe I should read Umineko. He told me to start at volume 3 however, as the first arc is very boring and not worth it. While I was stuck in conversation with the store owner he constantly kept telling me spoilers to the series though. I've still not read the first two volumes, but I did read the third. Were the first two actually boring or should I go back and read them anyway?

>literally telling someone who's gonna get into umineko to not read half of the question arcs and bombing them with spoilers

This guy was a huge asshole.

Also, this is why normalfags shouldn't have access to umineko. They either just start reading and reading without understanding half of the stuff that's going on, until they finish it (if they like it), and if they don't they will start bitching around about how long are some scenes or how unecessary are some others, skipping them everytime they feel like it because they aren't able to read further than a fucking comic page straight per se.

It's just that upsets me people who give advice as if they knew everything about any series that had the misfortune of ending up in their hands. As a long-time Umineko fan, I'm pretty sure I figured out Umineko. The entire thing is just a game of pretend that Rika and Satoko are playing on a playground somewhere. Rika is Bernkastel and Satoko is Lambda. Everything, including everything that happens to everyone and every Umineko character and every piece they have on the board is literally them just playing a very, very advanced game of cops and robbers. The witch's dimension is just the metaphysical representation of their shared imagination.

It even explains why the plot is retarded and they all act like children even though they're supposed to be super old: they're like fucking 10.

>> No.12822030

I liked Umineko. I followed it ever since its first translation. I loved the theory threads and the question arc.

I completely lost interest during the answer arc when it started getting 8meta16me. Specifically, ep6 is when I finally could not handle another set of characters with yet more layers of incomprehensibleness added to an already ridiculously hard to digest story.

Do you guys seriously like Umineko or is this all some elaborate prank? I do not see how anyone could stick with such an absurdly obtuse story for so long.

The fighting game was pretty good.

>> No.12822036

>>12822030
Yes, I like it and have since the beginning. I understand how people can be upset with it but is was an enjoyable ride, and though better theories could have been confirmed, I was satisfied with what we got. Ryukishi emphasized the mystery element way too much when he intended for the story to be a tragedy. Lots of stuff he introduced like red text and the golden age rules really fucked his plan up and I'm not sure where he was going. I think he could have pulled this story off way better but I enjoyed it. The atmosphere was great.

>> No.12822060

>>12822036
>The atmosphere was great.

Oh, I can certainly agree with that, but in a lot of ways I think that's what most irks me about Umineko.

See, the great music and great characters did a lot to draw you into the game. I think the music should really be emphasized. Jesus christ could it make for some powerful scenes. But what I disliked were that it began to come to a point where things felt cheap and heart-jerky. Especially around the answer arc, (though I think ep4 is where it started, with Ange's present reality) you lost a lot of grounding and a sense of the tides of conflict, the story just became incomprehensible. The higher meaning of the story was beginning to be obfuscated, and replaced by "fuck yeah" moments.

It got to the point after a while where I realized the strong emotion that I was feeling during each individual scene wasn't really serving any purpose, because I had absolutely no idea what the fuck I was actually reading or where it was going. It was rather surreal.
