Any performer is going to be wearing tons of makeup. Most people do even just doing normal things. Even a lot of makeup isn't going to completely hide things if you've aged like shit though. So she still looks good. Not like, say, Ayumi Hamasaki who's 10 years younger and is starting to look like she's in her 40s.

God all of their old concerts always look so fucking fun. Great performers, Kaori's a great frontwoman. I guess it might be hard to say they're technically idols but given that they were put together via auditions by a talent agency I'd say they count.

Honestly I've never heard anything from Yukiko that impresses me. I don't think she would've had a career of note for more than a few years and by 1990, if that, would've started fading off.

Basically if she hadn't died she'd be one of any number of flash in the pan mid-to-late '80s idols that wouldn't be all that remembered beyond people from that generation (in Japan) or people with a hardcore interest in classic idols.

Samefag but I don't mean to come off like a dick, if you like her that's cool. Just that the mid-80s up through around Ayu/Namie/Hikki in the late '90s is littered with people who had a few hits and were a big deal but faded away after about three years and I've never seen anything from Yukiko to inidcate that she had lasting appeal. Didn't really have Momoe's powerful voice, Akina's creativity, Seiko's trendsetting nature, etc.

Honestly she probably wouldn't have had a career if she had survived her suicide attempt anyway. Look at what happened to Akina over hers.

Considering that she had 4 top 5 albums, and that Seiko wrote one of her songs i think that she either would have a lasting cereer like Yuki Saito or she would have married and retired on top form like Yuuyu, but i find hard to believe that she would faded away into anonimity after a lack of hits. She would probably crossed over into Enka

akina's suicide attempt seem to have really damaged her career. she had to make a public apology to the press which must have been pretty hard. I think the reason yukiko's suicide got so popular was because nobody knew why she did it. at least that's what I think.

Should I even watch? I've found that a lot of current acts covering classics to be... well, awful. There's a Scandal cover of Momoe's "Rock 'n Roll Widow" with the original guitarist/song writer and it's hot garbage because Scandal sucks.

They've apparenty got a cover of M floating around too with Kyoko and Kaori and I hope to never see it given that it's one of my favorite PuriPuri songs.

If you've got the TuneIn app for your phone or whatever the stream's on there too if you search for it. Usually hitting the "follow" button on it will bring up the specific song to ask if you want to follow it. So, I'm still a little new to /jp/ and I was wondering where /jp/ buys most of their asian goods? I want to buy some old 80's music like the ones in this thread. I have been torrenting my music for awhile now on jpopsuki they have a lot of music but I can't find some of the music I want on torrents since I assume some of it is pretty rare. so, my question is where do you guys buy your music from? Funny you mention Yuu Hayami, I literally just finished listening to one of her songs. I don't know any Japanese-based sites that do CDs since I'm a record collector, but Discogs and eBay as previously suggested will work good enough. You could also check Yahoo Auctions JP, but you'll need a proxy service since they don't ship internationally.

I did some research myself and see plenty of copies on vinyl for sale, but no CDs.
